Berardi Jazz Connection: The Way I Like

Sotto la sigla “Berardi Jazz Connection” c’è la firma di Francesco Lomagistro ed Ettore Carucci, due musicisti molto attivi nella loro terra d’origine, la Puglia. Per i più curiosi, “Berardi” è il nome di una via dove Lomagistro adibì la stanza di un vecchio appartamento a sala prove, cominciando a muovere i primi passi nel jazz con l’amico Carucci.

Principale punto di riferimento stilistico del gruppo - qui al disco d’esordio - appare il jazz anni ’50-60, targato Blue Note. Evitando sapientemente il recupero calligrafico, “Berardi Jazz Connection” cerca però di aggiornare quel linguaggio, privilegiando una scrittura fresca, godibile, elettrizzante, che a tratti guarda alla “cocktail music”. Niente di straodinariamente nuovo, per carità, ma aldilà delle notevoli capacità improvvisative dei musicisti (un po’ anonimi risultano però i sassofoni di Colucci e Presta), sono proprio i temi a rivelarsi azzeccati, di quelli che ti restano dentro e ti trasmettono voglia di vivere. E una volta tanto, un tocco di Leggerezza non guasta. Ottimo da ascoltare in spiaggia, versione notturna, accompagnato da un gustoso cocktail. Da segnalare l'esuberante tema iniziale e il delizioso omaggio al Brasile di Paola Arnesano.
