Vittorio Gennari: The Sound

Le difficoltà del mercato discografico sono sempre più evidenti. Anche una etichetta con un catalogo di tutto rilievo come la Red Records ha da un po' dovuto ridurre il numero di nuove produzioni. Ma il produttore Sergio Veschi sopperisce con la propria passione e continua a proporre musicisti sui quali ha voglia di puntare. Tra questi Vittorio Gennari che arriva ora, a settantaquattro anni di età al suo debutto discografico.

Da giovane ha suonato in Svezia, in band che facevano jazz e musica da ballo, poi ritornato a Pesaro ha continuato a suonare per i locali contribuendo alla vita musicale della sua città. L'incontro con Sergio Veschi è stato dettato dal caso durante un Festival dell'Unità e ha portato all'incisione di questo The Sound, una raccolta di standard, senza dimenticare due classiche canzoni della tradizione italiana.

Il risultato è un disco che - come Gennari - non ha età, in cui la sezione ritmica svolge un lavoro elegante e discreto, che mette in evidenza la bellezza delle composizioni scelte. Un lavoro composto, preciso, in cui tutto ha un suo posto, dalla scelta dei brani a quella degli assoli. Il leader suona pulito, alla ricerca della melodia, con le sue storie raccontate in punta di piedi, perfettamente in sintonia con il pianista Roberto Bachi.
