Tim Hagans: The Moon Is Waiting
Sono con lui il chitarrista Vic Juris (che ricordiamo anche alla corte di Dave Liebman), il bassista Rufus Reid e il batterista finlandese Jukkis Uotila che si propone anche come pianista. Quest'ultimo è certamente il componente meno noto del quartetto ma se la cava egregiamente e fornisce una propulsione continua che supporta i compagni per tutto il disco.
La vena di Hagans è piuttosto milesiana e il riferimento è al Miles post ritiro degli anni ottanta. Hagans sa comunque utilizzare al meglio questi riferimenti per proporre una musica che è completamente sua, senza alcun rischio di plagio.
La musica parte da un clima fusion per poi sfrangiarsi in una libertà di strutturazione che la porta verso un jazz modernissimo, senza alcun timore di uscire dai propri binari. Le composizioni - in parte commissionate dal Michele Brangwen Dance Ensemble - sono perfette per questo scopo.
