Emanuele Basentini - Carlo Atti: The Best Thing for You

Negli ultimi anni la Red Records di Sergio Veschi ha ridotto le uscite discografiche, producendo per lo più artisti italiani che hanno continuato la filosofia che ne era alla base della etichetta, e cioè mainstream con le radici nel bop.

Carlo Atti è già presente nel catalogo Red insieme al trio di Hal Garper e qui si presenta nella forma migliore, un sassofonista tenore che ogni tanto va in studio e che in questa occasione dimostra un'autorevolezza alla Scott Hamilton o Harry Allen, interpretando, con pronuncia perfetta, brani su cui sono stati in tanti ad esibirsi. Ma Atti non teme alcun confronto, esprimendosi nel rispetto di una tradizione che ha assimilato perfettamente.

L'altro co-leader, Emanuele Basentini, suona di solito con l'Orchestra Italiana di Renzo Arbore e qui si prende un pò di libertà da un genere più di consumo prendendo degli assoli vertiginosi di stampo bop ("Sings My Heart") ben integrati all'interno del contesto.

Ad accompagnarli ci sono noti musicisti romani, la nota ritmica di Lussu, Ciancaglini e Tucci ed altri più giovani e promettenti.
