Julie Slim

Born: July 12, 1960

Julie is a multilingual, multicultural vocalist who sings in Arabic, French, English, Portugese, and Spanish. With a focus on jazz and world music, Julie brings forth her cultural influences in her music, reviving American and international jazz and pop standards between the 1920's and 1960's with her unique arrangements and rich, warm vocals, while also mixing in her own compositions. She currently lives in Austin, TX.

Julie Slim & RendezVous is the project closest to her heart, a collaborative quintet with Austin musicians, specializing in French, American and international standards from the 1920s to the 1960s. Julie is honored to feature special arrangements by jazz legend, Dr. James Polk. The band premiered in 2013 to a sold out house at Esquina Tango in Austin, TX with Dr. James Polk on keyboards, Roberto Paolo Riggio on violin, Michael Stevens on bass, Michael Maddux on accordion and Ethan Vlah on percussion. Since then, RendezVous has performed widely and become a meeting place for many talented local musicians and budding friendships. Julie has self-produced a 3-song EP, a five-song live EP recorded in Austin, TX, and a full length album, Promenade Sentimentale, an 11-track journey through the many faces of love from loss to discovery. Over the years, Julie has revisited her Lebanese roots, expanding her musical repertoire to include Arabic music. Julie began her musical life in Musical Theatre in Allentown, PA. In 2009, she cofounded Layalina with oud player, Sari Andoni. Julie has also collaborated with Austin's 1001 Nights Orchestra, Ojàla, Indimaj, and Atlas Maior and has appeared on stage with Ann Hampton Callaway. She is a member of Swan Songs, an organization that fulfills musical wishes for senior citizens. She is also a member of the Threshold Choir, an international volunteer organization of women who sing for patients on their final journeys, locally at Hospice Austin's Christopher House where she and her Threshold Choir sing every Tuesday morning.

Nina Mya

Born: November 15, 1989

Nina Mya is a Finnish jazz vocalist, composer and vocal teacher. Her musical studies began when she was 7 with classical piano but as a teenager singing and jazz became her biggest passion. In fall 2008 Nina started her studies at the reputable Sibelius Academy Department of Jazz in Helsinki. She has had the honour of being taught by and also having worked with some of the finest jazz musicians in Finland including Jukkis Uotila, Manuel Dunkel, Jenny Robson and many more. Throughout the years Nina has participated in several jazz vocal competitions and events bringing her awards; one being mentioned the Soloist Price at the Young Nordic Jazz Comets 2011

June Tabor

Born: December 31, 1947

June Tabor is probably the finest female traditional British folksinger of the late 20th and early 21st centuries — if not the best British folksinger of her time, period. What links her to Britain's past traditions is the chilling and emotional qualities of her voice. What links her to the British present is her fine taste in material, arrangements, and backing musicians, along with a willingness to try different things and interpret work by contemporary songwriters. Tabor's first high-profile project was a duet album with Steeleye Span's Maddy Prior in the 1970s (the duo dubbed themselves the Silly Sisters for the occasion)

Kimberly "KAZ" Woods

Kimberly Woods, also known as KAZ, is a Jazz vocalist and actress currently residing in New York City. A breath of fresh air on the New York music scene, her voice has a sultry, buttery tone leaving the listener enchanted by her music. Kimberly's inviting and playful personality, along with her repertoire of Jazz Standards and more, make for a vibrant performance in any venue. KAZ works in duo with guitar or piano, with a trio, or full band. Growing up in Salt Lake City, Utah, she was first introduced to Jazz through the music of her Grandfather, Bill Woods, playing saxophone and clarinet around the valley

Elma Kais

Trained in classical music, Elma Kais finally turned to jazz and graduated from the Krakow School of Jazz and Contemporary Music in the vocal class under Marek Bałata. During her school years she received awards in several jazz vocal contests. Her professional life is constantly organised around musical improvisation: from her artistic and stage activities (as a soloist, a band leader, as well as a composer of music for her own projects and for theatre), through her academic research (her doctoral thesis focused on psychological aspects of musical improvisation), to her therapeutic work (as a music therapist in improvisational approach)

Laurin Talese

Naturally gifted yet exceptionally well-trained, Laurin Talese has been amazing audiences with her stunning voice since the age of 10. As a native of Cleveland, Ohio, Ms. Talese attended the Cleveland School of the Arts where she began to receive wide spread notoriety as a promising young vocalist. After completing high school, Laurin relocated to Philadelphia where she attended the University of ...the Arts and subsequently received a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice. Although Laurin’s greatest affinity is jazz, she is quite an accomplished vocalist in many musical genres

Joelle Lurie

Joelle started singing jazz in high school and began studying jazz and classical at New England Conservatory of Music and at Boston University’s Tanglewood Institute. She studied opera at Indiana University School of Music, The Opera Festival of Lucca and Boston University, earning a bachelor of music in vocal performance. She moved to New York City in 2005 to pursue a music and acting career. She’s been featured on a variety of recording, voice overs, commercial jingle spots, radio branding ads and on back up vocals. She was featured on Josh Ritter’s acclaimed album, “The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter” released by Sony Victor/Independent records. Joelle performs regularly with her jazz trio Joelle & The Pinehurst Trio at venues including Rockwood Music Hall, The Boom Boom Room at The Standard Hotel, Cornelia Street Cafe and Zinc Bar
