Mark Quint

Born:

This unique and new recording features 10 handpicked musicians playing with Mark Quint. Each song on this new release has it's own flavor and mood. Reminiscent of the style of Antonio Carlos Jobim, yet somehow quite unique to Mr. Quint's own taste and sophistication. This album settles easily into the likes of Diana Krall, Norah Jones or Chet Baker. Mark has a classic vocal style, his temper is cool and jet setting, and his lyrics flow from soft to full bravado seamlessly on all of these original songs. Mark Quint began composing at the age of 11. It was in his nature to see and feel music in everything he did

Tony Adamo

Born:

Reviewed by Kirpal Gordon (reprinted from Jazz Times), The killin’ist thing about Tony Adamo & the New York Crew is that everybody in the band, especially the dope rhyme sayer, has got big ears all the way back to New Orleans and ancient-forward into the ever-evolving Multi-New Thing. It’s big ears working together that’s keeping this CD in Jazzweek's Chart Top 200 List since its release, a totally unheard of phenomenon for jazz-spoken word collaborations. Although singing the talents and wonders of the giants who make this music immortal is nothing new, Adamo and the New York Crew pour out on these eleven tracks joyous lagniappes of praise, the song-cup running over with each additional solo. It’s one thing to express an artful appreciation of the Jazz Messengers, for example, in a song, but it’s a whole other monster of tribute when the band rocks Blakey’s sound so righteously.

Sue Oatts Tucker

Born:

I come from a family of known jazz musicians. "My father, Jack Oatts, was one of the first jazz educators in Iowa. Music was always around... mostly jazz." My brothers, Jim and Dick Oatts, are also internationally known and respected jazz artists. Before I took up singing, I was blowin' my tenor sax in jazz band and playing' a duet with Clark Terry at a jazz festival on my clarinet. "I think playing a horn has had a great influence on my singing. I've tried to approach singing from an instrumental mindset. Space is just as important as sound." After attending college, I began a studio career producing and singing jingles and industrials with a voice-over thrown in on occasion

Susan Krebs

Born:

Susan Krebs, Jazz Gardener at Work

Over three decades, Los Angeles vocalist and songwriter Susan Krebs has created a captivating body of work, combining a free-ranging imagination with a supple sense of swing. Dubbed the Jazz Gardener, both for her lovingly tended musical bouquets and the inspiration she draws from cultivating her small plot of land, Krebs has sown a brilliant array of projects and recordings with a regular cast of L.A. jazz luminaries.

A restlessly creative artist, she's covered a lot of sonic territory over the years, and her latest album, 2025's Little Did I Dream, marks a return to her straight-ahead roots. Eschewing the kind of crafty conceptual frameworks that have defined most of her previous albums, she simply revels in interpreting a set of songs that provided pleasure and succor during the pandemic's chaotic hangover years.
