Alison Ruble

After a decade long apprenticeship in Chicago’s vibrant music scene, Alison Ruble has emerged in recent years as one of the city’s premier and in demand jazz vocalists. Having honed her skills with steady work at a number of Chicago’s high profile jazz rooms, including The Green Mill; Joe Segal’s Jazz Showcase, and Andy’s Jazz Club, Alison has etched out a distinct style that has drawn increasing attention from critics and audiences alike. In addition to extensive club work, she has appeared in a variety of theatre and festival settings, including Jazz at Lincoln Center and the Chicago Jazz Festival. Raphaëlle Brochet

Born: February 3, 1982

Raphaëlle Brochet is a unique vocalist who grew up in the world of jazz and trained in South Indian Classical music. Her innate talent for improvisation and her exceptional sense of rhythm, combined with her mastering of solkattu and Persian singing makes her one of the most astounding vocalist of the Montreal Jazz and World Music scene. Born to musician parents, Raphaëlle Brochet grew up in the world of jazz and was destined to become a performer. She recorded her first album at the age of 17 with Floris Nico-Bunink (Mingus, Billy Holliday) under the label Daybreak. After intense training in various conservatories in France she received a full scholarship from Wesleyan University and got a Masters of Ethnomusicology specialized in Carnatic Music. Raphaëlle’s collaborations are incredibly diverse and include musicians from various backgrounds, but also film directors (Amin Moghadam), theatre directors (Patrick Palmer), comedians (Sam Magdi) and dancers (Anand Satchidanandan, Shoko Yamamuro). Raphaëlle revealed herself as a music director presenting her first creation Wings That We All Have in 2010, and recently released an album with the collectif Arometis (Vision Diversité-K.Pone)

T.C. III appears every Sunday Night, 10:30 PM in Harlem at St. Nick's Pub for his Jazz Vocalist Workshop! Born William Theodore Carney III and known as "T.C.,III", Pronounced (TC the third)... T.C. grew up in Philadelphia Pa affectionately called "Philly". Coming from a tradition of musicianship, the tutelage of his parents, the musical institution of Trudy Pitts and "Mr. C." provided a unique training and professional environment, as well as exposure to the world of Jazz. During the last 25 years, he has developed, initiated, inspired, networked, and led several Philadelphia/New York-based Jazz bands

Jason Scott

A recent student at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, Jason Scott is an aspiring vocalist/pianist of many different genres. From Mozart's operas to Jason Robert Brown's musicals and nearly everything in between, he has insured the incorporation of eclecticism in his music. However, the true core of his music lies in great jazz artists that have preceded him. Beverly Rego

As reviewed by the LA Times' Agustin Gurza, Beverly Rego is indeed a "haunting jazz vocalist from Venezuela". Her collaborations with distinguished Latin musicians (notably pianist/composer Leo Blanco, co-writer one of the tracks featured here) and solo ventures have bridged the barriers between jazz, world-music, Venezuelan tradition, Brazilian MPB & bossa, rock, folk and pop. With a great passion for the jazz tradition, a deep connection to her Italian roots and a solid background in piano and classical music studies, Emilia’s commitment to study and constant improvement has earned her the respect of jazz aficionados and critics alike.

Inspired by her love of literature and poetry from a young age, Emilia’s singing is highly influenced by her analysis of the lyrics of a song, adding extra meaning to her performance

Omara Portuondo

Born: 1930

Omara’s first encounter with music was at a very early age. Just as in any other Cuban home, the future singer and her siblings grew up with the songs which her parents, for lack of a gramophone, sang to them. Those melodies, some of which still form part of her repertoire, were young Omara’s informal introduction to the world of music. However, before taking up singing as a career, a fortuitous event led her to first try her hand at dancing, following in the footsteps of her sister Haydee, who was a member of the dance company of the famous Tropicana cabaret. One day, in 1945, she began a dancing career that led her to form a legendary duo with Rolando Espinosa and, in 1961, to become a teacher of popular dance at the Escuela de Instructores de Arte

Patrizia Ferrara

Patrizia Ferrara was born into the bicultural home of her Sicilian father and Austrian mother. Settled on the border of Italy and South Austria, she grew up training to be a light athlete, but only until the age of 13 when she unfortunately had a bike accident that injured her knee in such a way that she had to stop completely.
