Jerzy Milian

Born: May 10, 1935

A living legend of the Polish jazz and the country's leading vibraphonist, Jerzy Milian has recorded and performed alongside such stars as Krzysztof Komeda, Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski, Zbigniew Namysłowski, and Tomasz Stańko. His 1969 debut LP, "Bazaar", remains a much sought-for item. For nearly a quarter of a century Jerzy Milian has been in charge of the Polish Radio and Television Orchestra of Popular Music whose recordings have been regularly featured by the BBC. Today, Milian's original LPs command high prices, while the man himself is generally considered the icon of the Polish jazz. He is by all means the godfather of the groove.

Arturo Serra

Martin Pyne

Born: January 2, 1963

While taking its name from a 15th century Burgundian composer, Busnoys is very much a 21st century jazz group. The band is fronted by vibraphone player Martin Pyne, a passionate and engaging improviser, who makes imaginative use of electronic processing to take his instrument into unexpected sonic territories. Pyne is a member of innovative improvising trio "Dangerous Kitchen" with saxophone legend Stan Sulzmann and percussionist Simon Allen, and is also has an ongoing collaboration with sax man Tony Woods and vocalist Nette Robinson. The trio's repertoire is based around Pyne’s striking compositions, which more often than not draw listeners in by telling some kind of a story, as well as the occasional judiciously chosen standard

At age 24, composer/vibraphonist Max Feldschuh is leading the way for the new generation of jazz artists. Max’s energy and the passion he brings to the stage has begun to turn heads. Erik Charlston

Jazz vibraphonist Erik Charlston, a native of Chicago, has a diverse career centered in New York, where he currently leads his JazzBrasil sextet. Charlston has also performed and recorded with Wynton Marsalis, Fred Hersch, Steve Coleman, James Carter, Sam Rivers, Dave Brubeck, and Orlando Puntilla Rios, among others. He has performed with Sting, Billy Joel and Elton John at Carnegie Hall, and with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, he played with Metallica at Madison Square Garden. Alongside Bill Frisell, Gil Goldstein, Marty Ehrlich and Greg Cohen, he has interpreted the music of the classic film composer Bernard Herrmann in London with the BBC Symphony, in France with the Orchestre National de Lyon and most recently with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Richard Sprince

As a keyboardist, vibraphonist and percussionist, he has performed Jazz, Brazilian, Salsa and African music in clubs, music festivals, television and radio. He has worked with world class musicians from all over, including: fusion guitarist Ray Gomez; percussionist Sammy Figueroa; flautist Nestor Torres; saxophonist Jorge Pardo, bassist Carlos Benevent, and percussionist Ruben Dantas (Chick Corea & Paco de Lucia alumni); drummer Tony Moreno; Brazilian guitarist Cezar Santana; and many others.

Dave Shank

Dave's career began in Las Vegas. After serving in the Armed Forces, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theory and Composition at the University of Nevada. He apprenticed playing headline acts on the Las Vegas Strip and performed with local jazz groups. In Los Angeles, when not doing sessions for Mike Post, Quincy Jones, Don Piestrup and others, or playing acts like Frank Sinatra, Dionne Warwick, Linda Ronstadt, Bette Midler and Luther Vandross, to name a few, he performed percussion duties on many Broadway shows. He could also be heard with the Dennis Dreith, Curt Berg, and Kim Richmond bands, but most prominently with Tim Weston?s jazz quintet, Wishful Thinking. He played vibraphone and composed as a principal contributor on four recording projects: Wishful Thinking and Think Again for Pausa Records; Way Down West for Pat Williams' label, Soundwings; and That Was Then for Intima, the jazz division of EMI Records. The band toured extensively doing festivals with the Yellowjackets, John Scofield, Dave Sanborn, Spyro Gyra, Alphonse Mouzon, Billy Childs and others, as well as appearing at the prestigious North Sea Jazz Festival in The Hague, Netherlands. Patricia Brennan

Vibraphonist, marimbist, improviser and composer Patricia Brennan “has been widely feted as one of the instrument’s newer leaders.” observed The New York City Jazz Record. She inherited a deep love and appreciation for musical tradition from both parents, as well as being exposed to the musical richness of her native Port of Veracruz. She started studying music at 4 years old, playing latin percussion along salsa records with her father and listening to Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin records with her mother. Also, around the same age, she started playing piano, influenced by her grandmother who was a concert pianist. 

Yuhan Su

In many ways, Yuhan Su represents the voice of the new generation of jazz musicians. Though she is firmly rooted in jazz tradition, her music is innovative, emotional, cerebral and most importantly, always lyrical. Her compositions and improvisations are uniquely hers, marked with an amalgamation of complexity, intensity and emotional resonance.
