About the Album
Decades before the term “Americana” meant a narrow slice of Southern roots music, pianist Ran Blake was making new artistic creations from the entire swath of American music, including blues, jazz, country, the Great American Songbook, and the sounds of all of the people who have made American their home. Now Blake, 91, has reunited with one of his great vocal muses, Dominique Eade, for a journey through the music of America. Their one-of-a-kind musical partnership gives bold new meanings to songs from Hollywood to Minugs. On “Lost Highway,” a Leon Payne song made famous by Hank Williams Sr., the pair explore the heartache and desolation found in one of country music’s most enduring compositions.
