About the Album
After maverick trumpeter Steve Bernstein made his new LP “ResoNation” with Scott Colley (bass) and Nasheet Waits (drums), he was inspired to also create a companion project inspired by the way that classic roots reggae artists would release both a vocal and an instrumental dub album drawn from the same material. Longtime Bernstein producer/engineer Scotty Hard took the acoustic tracks from “ResoNation” and created a wildly reimagined companion album called “Ultra Resonance.” “Erbium 1,” which draws from the ResoNation track “Woodstock,” takes that piece into the stratosphere by giving Bernstein’s trumpet the roar and emotional range of an electric wah-wah guitar, while Colley and Waits’ beats are rearranged into a sound that’s both danceable and mesmerizing.
