Jr Volcano Choy
When on a coast to coast USA tour with Columbia Records in his early 20’s, Jr Choy, born Delano Choy Jr. was referred to by a music critic after one of the concert performances as an “erupting “Volcano” on the trumpet, who hails from Hawaii”…the other musicians on the tour jumped on that immediately and so “Volcano” has been his nick-name ever since for some 25 years now. In his own words, “I just kind of went with it, realizing that people remembered “Volcano” a lot easier than my given name which is, Delano,…also that concert reviewer reminded me that “Volcano” rhymes somewhat with “Delano”! I guess he meant it as a compliment, I tell people that you can call me “Volcano” or Jr., (which my family refers to me as…”)

Paul Gonzales
Born:
Albuquerque native, Paul Gonzales began his professional career in 1984 as “jazz trumpet soloist” with the Army Band of New England. After returning to Albuquerque in 1985, he began leading, composing, and arranging for various groups including Tetragon. His beginnings as a percussionist and vocalist began in 1994 when he joined Son Como Son. He has recorded one album as a imageleader, “Warm Valley” and has appeared at the Newport, Park City, St Lucia, Chateau St Michelle, Telluride, Hot Springs, and New Mexico Jazz Festivals. Paul appears on Ottmar Liebert’s platinum selling cd, “Little Wing”

Chris Klaxton
New England native, Chris Klaxton, has developed a reputation as a gifted multi-instrumentalist, an imaginative composer, and an effective educator. With degrees in both classical and jazz trumpet, Klaxton has received a rich and varied education, studying with: Brian Lynch, Terence Blanchard, Jason Carder, Dr. Robert Stibler, Stephen Guerra, Whit Sidener, and Gary Lindsay.
Perhaps the most significant musical relationship of Klaxton’s career is that with famed trumpeter, Clark Terry. Years of study, several years as valet / travel manager, and more than a decade of friendship with Clark, has left Chris saturated with lessons and anecdotes (musical and otherwise). Chris is proud to pass on a repertoire unique to Clark, a system of phrasing and rhythmic pronunciation, and a means of conveyance handed down directly from one of the founding fathers of the music.

John Montesante

John Montesante's first musical passion is Jazz and he freelanced as a Jazz Trumpet early in his professional career in the late 1960s. As he didn't fit the Trad-Dixie mould of that time, and was always told he was "too modern", he diversified across genres - big bands, show & TV orchestras and soul music - in order to remain in employment as a professional artist. He came to national attention in Australia as a singular Jazz musician, composer and arranger in his late 20s, when he returned to tertiary jazz and music studies, including taking master-classes with American jazz greats

Anthony Stanco
Anthony Stanco is a trumpeter, composer, bandleader, and educator from Southeast Michigan. A product of Detroit's rich musical heritage, Stanco spent his early years studying under such local heroes as Marcus Belgrave and Rodney Whitaker. He enrolled in the Manhattan School of Music to continue his education with world-famous brass pedagogue Laurie Frink before returning to Michigan State University for his master's degree in 2014. While completing his education, he won the International Trumpet Guild's 2013 Jazz Competition. Stanco leads The Crucial Elements, a nationally-recognized 5-piece ensemble that has toured with the U.S
