Jamal Dickerson

A native of Camden, New Jersey, Jamal P. Dickerson started formal music studies during grade school. By high school he was studying with many Philadelphia jazz greats, including Terrell Stafford, Tim Warfield, Shirley Scott, Cullen Knight, and Leon Mitchell. He is a trumpeter and world percussionist, with emphasis on West African music. He received a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Morgan State University in 1999 and a Masters in Public Administration from Rutgers in 2010. During a thirty day intensive in Guinea, West Africa he studied Djembe family percussion, Balafon and Kora, under the direction of Moussa Diabate, with the African National Ballet, Les Ballet Africain De Guinea

Anthony Hervey

Born: December 30, 1996

Anthony Hervey, who was recently recognized by Grammy.com as one of  “10 emerging artists to know in 2023, has impressed audiences across the globe as a first-call sideman for luminaries such as Christian McBride, Jon Batiste, Michael Bublé, and Wynton Marsalis, who described Hervey as a “beautiful trumpet player of the first magnitude.”

He was a member of the nationally renowned Dillard Center for the Arts Jazz Ensemble in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and afterward earned admission to the prestigious Juilliard School.  There he honed his craft and graduated with a B.M. in 2019 and an M.M. in 2020.  His debut album, “Words From My Horn,” is a blend of soulful and cerebral compositions that draw from his personal, musical, and spiritual memories.

Natanael Ramos

Born: January 11, 1988

Born in La Orotava (Canary Islands, Spain) in 1988. Natanael graduated with a Master in Jazz Music degree at the CvA (Conservatorium van Amsterdam) with Ruud Breuls, Jan Oosthof, Joris Roelofs and many others after having completed the Bachelor in Jazz Trumpet at MUSIKENE (Center for Advanced Musical Studies of the Basque Country) with trumpeter Chris Kase. He has also been taught by Perico Sambeat, Bob Sands, Miguel Blanco, Roger Mas, Joaquin Chacon, and masterclasses with Wynton Marsalis, Branford Marsalis, Ambrose Akinmusire, Avisahi Cohen, Terence Blanchard, Terrell Strafford, Till Brönner, Jerry Bergonzi, Polo Orti, Javier Colina, David Pastor and many others. He leads his own band, a latin jazz nonet ‘La Banda del Solar’ and a salsa collective in Tenerife called ‘IBAKÓ’, projects for which he composes and arranges

Scott Abrahamson

Based in New England, Scott Abrahamson is an accomplished performer, educator, and music industry businessman. Both a classically and jazz trained trumpeter, Scott demonstrates great versatility in a range of styles, and has performed extensively throughout the East Coast. He has also performed in the Mid-West, Canada, and Europe. To the latter, he performed at the North Sea and Montreux International Jazz Festivals in 1993. He has a BM in Music Education, MM in Trumpet Performance, worked 5 years as a Music Director and lead trumpet player on Carnival Cruise lines and has continued freelance trumpet lifestyle. He now teaches trumpet online and from his home studio in Cherry Hill, NJ. He is also the owner of Triplo Press, one of the world’s largest publishing companies of trumpet ensemble music. In addition, he runs trumpet clinics for schools, where he teaches students how to improve their sound, endurance, jazz skills, ensemble playing, and trumpet ensemble creation

Thomas Vinnedge Jenkins

Born: May 17, 1928

Grew up in Beaumont. Student of Everette James (father of Harry James). Jobbed as a freelance player my entire life. Subbed on several name bands but never bought into the "great" deals offered. Spent 52 years in Higher Education Administration. Was music arranger for Vince DiNino and The University of Texas Longhorn Band. Retired and living in Wimberley.

Mattia Salvadori

Born: December 22, 1991

Mattia Salvadori, born in 1991 in Pontedera (Pisa, Italy). He has collaborated and played with different formations and he had the opportunity to expand his language by playing various genres as rhythm'n'blues, soul, blues, rock'n'roll, swing, folk, pop, jazz, surf rock, funk, house, edm, hip hop in many venues, festivals and squares both in Italy and abroad. He has been playing since 2010 with "Borrkia Big Band" (rock'n'roll, blues, soul) since 2015 with "Fuochi di Paglia" (songwriting, swing) and with "Zoostaff Live" (house, edm). He has studied with musicians like Fabrizio Bosso, Antonio Sanchez, Tom Harrell, Adam Cruz, Ugonna Okegwo, Danny Grissett, Steve Herrman, Charlie Wood, Sax Gordon, Fabio Morgera, Tony Cattano, Aldo Bassi, Alberto Marsico, Fabio Zeppetella, Manolo Nardi. He shared the stage with: Bandabardò, Sax Gordon, Igor Prado, Yuri Prado, Raphael Wressnig, Il Maniscalco Maldestro. He has opened concerts for: Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, Charlie Musselwhite, Fabio Treves, Bandabardò, Osaka Monaurail, Paul Brown & His All Star Band, Bobby Rush, David Hudson, Latimore, Toni Green, Cesareo (Elio e le Storie Tese), Kutso, Cecco e Cipo.

Lwanda Gogwana

South African born jazz trumpeter and composer, Lwanda Gogwana fuses traditional Xhosa music with jazz harmonies and contemporary music elements in his compositions. Lwanda was born in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, the home of the Ama-Xhosa. He started his musical career at school, singing in school choirs, and taking lessons in both piano and trumpet. During his high school period, he toured Namibia and UK, whilst playing in a number of national youth bands of South Africa. He enrolled at the University of Cape Town (UCT) in 2005 for a Bachelor of music degree in composition and arrangement under Prof Peter Klatzow and Prof Mike Campbell, and received scholarship to study in Norway, Europe on exchange at the Norges Musikkhogskole based at the University of Oslo. During his professional career, he has played, & at most times composed for a number of artists and bands in South Africa, including the UCT big band, Abdullah Ibrahim’s Cape Town Jazz Orchestra, Standard Bank National Youth Jazz Band of 2007, the Tete Mbambisa band, Bokani Dyer, Lulama Gaulana, Simphiwe Dana, Neo Muyanga, Jimmy Dludlu, Steve Dyer, Moreira Chonguica, Ezra Ngcukana, Errol Dyers, Tete Mbambisa, Robbie Jansen, Bruce Cassidy, John Fedchock, Thandi Klaasen, Judith Sephuma, Marcus Wyatt, Nomfusi, Buddy Wells and Max Vidima and his very own composition based project, The Lwanda Gogwana Songbook. Having played at many festivals, including the Cape Town International Jazz festival, The Joy of Jazz festival in Johannesburg, The National Youth Jazz festival in Grahamstown, the Wigan Jazz Festival in England, still today, Lwanda continues to perform in and out of South Africa. Lwanda has also been involved in a couple of community building projects, including teaching and conducting workshops in and around Cape Town, and is also part of a youth run organization, RYTHM (reaching youth through music) that aims at promoting South African music to the youth

Elliot Bild

Born: April 18, 1993

Originally from Chicago, trumpeter, educator, and composer Elliot Bild got his undergraduate degree from Western Michigan University where he studied with Scott Cowan, Andrew Rathbun and Edward Simon. Shortly after, he completed his Masters Degree from Temple University where he studied with Terell Stafford, John Swana and Dick Oatts. In August 2017, Elliot was selected along with 14 other fellows to participate in the Ravinia Steins Music Institute, a week-long workshop focusing on composition where he worked with Rufus Reid, Nathan Davis and Billy Childs. Later that summer, Elliot attended the Banff Workshop for Jazz and Creative Music, where he had the chance to work with Gary Bartz, Jeremy Pelt, Vijay Iyer, Tyshawn Sorey, Robin Eubanks and Tia Fuller, among others
