Mandla Mlangeni

Mandla Mlangeni is a Johannesburg-based trumpeter, composer and bandleader. A superbly talented player, Manda is a member of the SAMA-nominated group Amandla Freedom Ensemble and has toured extensively as a member of the Cape Town Opera. Recently, his musical production Oratorio For A Forgotten Youth was premiered by the Artscape Opera House. Mandla is also highly active with Tune Recreation committee, a group which he founded to teach music workshops and provide healing to disenfranchised communities. Outside of his performance and education work, Mandla curates Monday Blues at the Bassline and a host of other Johannesburg-based concerts under the presenting banner of Afrikan Freedom Principle.

Jamal Dickerson

A native of Camden, New Jersey, Jamal P. Dickerson started formal music studies during grade school. By high school he was studying with many Philadelphia jazz greats, including Terrell Stafford, Tim Warfield, Shirley Scott, Cullen Knight, and Leon Mitchell. He is a trumpeter and world percussionist, with emphasis on West African music. He received a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Morgan State University in 1999 and a Masters in Public Administration from Rutgers in 2010. During a thirty day intensive in Guinea, West Africa he studied Djembe family percussion, Balafon and Kora, under the direction of Moussa Diabate, with the African National Ballet, Les Ballet Africain De Guinea

Anthony Hervey

Anthony Hervey, who was recently recognized by Grammy.com as one of “10 emerging artists to know in 2023, has impressed audiences across the globe as a first-call sideman for luminaries such as Christian McBride, Jon Batiste, Michael Bublé, and Wynton Marsalis, who described Hervey as a “beautiful trumpet player of the first magnitude.”
He was a member of the nationally renowned Dillard Center for the Arts Jazz Ensemble in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and afterward earned admission to the prestigious Juilliard School. There he honed his craft and graduated with a B.M. in 2019 and an M.M. in 2020. His debut album, “Words From My Horn,” is a blend of soulful and cerebral compositions that draw from his personal, musical, and spiritual memories.

Natanael Ramos

Natanael graduated with a Master in Jazz Music degree at the CvA (Conservatorium van Amsterdam) with Ruud Breuls, Jan Oosthof, Joris Roelofs and many others after having completed the Bachelor in Jazz Trumpet at MUSIKENE (Center for Advanced Musical Studies of the Basque Country) with trumpeter Chris Kase.
