Steve Wiest Big Band

Jazz trombonist Steve Wiest is in great demand as a featured artist, composer/arranger and clinician. Throughout the U.S., he is enjoying success and critical acclaim as he pursues an ambitious performing schedule while continuing to record, compose and arrange. Steve has also appeared in Canada, South America, Australia, Japan, and Europe. From 1981-1986, Steve was the featured trombonist and one of the arrangers for Maynard Ferguson's Band. While with Maynard, he recorded two CDs: "Storm" and "Live From San Francisco", and one two-volume video: "The Playboy Jazz Festival". During this time, Steve and the Maynard Ferguson band also performed with a number of guest artists including: Freddie Hubbard, Slide Hampton, Wynton Marsalis, David Clayton Thomas, Lew Soloff, Billy Eckstein, and Mel Torme

Roland Barber

Twins Rahsaan and Roland Barber, saxophonist and trombonist, respectively, are committed to continuing the legacy of jazz through their efforts as composers, performers, bandleaders and educators. Though still in their early twenties, the Barber Brothers have learned their craft both in the classroom and in the informal sessions, shoulder to shoulder with the veterans of the music such as Al Grey and Stanley Turrentine. The Barber Brothers’ training includes virtually every significant resource in modern jazz education. Their experiences include the Jamey Aebersold Summer Jazz Camps, the Essentially Ellington Festival (where both were named Outstanding Soloists), the All-American Grammy High School Jazz Bands, the Ravinia Steans Young Artists Program, the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead Program, and the Jazz Aspen Program

Born and raise in New York. Completed B.S. and M.S degrees from Hofstra University. Worked proffessionly since 1957. Studied with Metropolitan Opera Orchestra principal trombonist Roger Smith. Background includes playing with Bobby Hackett, Gene Krupa, Phil Napolean, Wild Bill Davison, Benny Goodman. Recorded with numerous artists including Gene Krupa and Bobby Hackett. Relocated in 1966 to the Detroit area and performed and recorded with the Austin-Moro Big Band and the New Mckinney's Cottonpickers as well as local artists like Tom Saunders. Led my own band since 1988 and have performed at numerous Jazz Festivals including Newport Jazz Festival, Montreaux Jazz Festival and the sacramento Jazz Jubilee.

Keith Pitner

Born:

Trombonist Keith Pitner has been described by the Dundee Weekly Journal as "...technically and musically astounding." Originally from the Chicago area, he studied under acclaimed trombonist Jim Pugh at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he was the recipient of the Doris Vance Harmon award, the School of Music's only full-ride scholarship. He also holds a Master's Degree in Education Policy, Organization, and Leadership from the same institution. He has performed a wide range of music including classical, jazz, funk, and rock with many great musicians including a stint as Lead Trombone with the Buddy Rich Big Band as well as Lead Trombone with the Pete Ellman Big Band. Through his musical journeys he’s had the pleasure to perform alongside many luminaries including Howard Levy, Dave Weckl, Jeff Coffin, Grace Kelly, Andy Martin, Randy Brecker, Tommy Igoe, John Fedchock, Wayne Bergeron, Eric Miyashiro, Denis DiBlasio, Marvin Hamlisch, Monica Mancini, and also played in the Maynard Ferguson Alumni Big Band.

Craig Brenan

Creative jazz trombonist and composer Craig Brenan has performed and recorded in a wide variety of settings from trio to large ensemble, and has been featured on over 20 albums as a composer and performer. Brenan was born in 1969 in Saskatoon Saskatchewan, Canada, and at the age of 12 he began his training on the trombone in Edmonton, Alberta. As a student Craig won a number of awards at national music festivals, and various other honors and grants came from both his jazz and classical music skills. In 1990, Craig created the creative opportunity orchestra, a diverse collection of musicians exploring a wide palate of musical styles and tastes

Christian Pincock

Christian Pincock is a trombonist and composer in the New York area who works in many different musical situations and settings. Throughout his career as a performing artist, he has played in jazz big bands, standard jazz groups, rock bands, free jazz groups, traditional dixiland bands, trombone choirs and quartets, progressive jazz bands, brass quintets, and symphony orchestras. He has performed Internationally at the Louis Armstrong International Jazz Competition in La Havre, France and the Chiliwack Jazz Festival in Brittish Columbia, and in the United States at venues such as Bridland, Niagara, the Newyorekan, Jordan Hall in Boston, and the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. As a composer and arranger, Christian Pincock has written works for large jazz ensembles, small combo groups, brass quintet, trombone choir, vocal choir, and electronically realized virtual ensembles

Francesco Salomoni

Francesco Salomoni approached flute at age 8, soon switching on guitar. During the years he spent in Cremona, Italy, he had his first classical education and became a name in the local music scene. After moving to Rome he fell in love with the trombone "my prison and my joy" he likes to say. He had a classical education on trombone attending conservatory and studying with Maurizio Persia, bass trombone of the Accademia Nazionale di S.Cecilia. Although he enjoyed very much studying with Maestro Persia, he was looking for something more, something that he found during his first experience at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA
