Harrison Squared
Harrison^2 (Harrison squared) is a Toronto-based modern jazz quartet that features two up-and-coming instrumentalists, Harrison Vetro (drums) and Harrison Argatoff (tenor saxophone), alongside two mainstays of the Canadian jazz scene, Mike Murley (tenor saxophone) and Steve Wallace (double bass). The group hatched from a chance encounter between Vetro and Wallace in early 2016, at the University of Toronto, while Vetro’s drum teacher (Nick Fraser) was on tour. Wallace was asked to sub in for a lesson, with the aim of offering his wealth of experience and some new perspective. As he and Vetro worked on time, tempo, and rhythmic feel, Wallace immediately recognized a natural musical connection

James Hill is an award-winning Toronto-based pianist and composer. He is a member of multiple bands, most notably BADBADNOTGOOD and Autobahn Trio. As a co-leader he has released three albums with his band Autobahn Trio, and is currently working on a studio album with BADBADNOTGOOD. Further, Hill is near completing a solo piano project under his pseudonym Projectwhatever, which he intends to release in 2020. Hill is now touring internationally with BADBADNOTGOOD, while the release of his new self-led project titled LOCAL TALENT (December 13, 2019) quickly approaches. In 2014 David began his undergraduate degree at York University. Here he studied privately with Canadian jazz legend, Lorne Lofsky. Dan Pitt
Dan Pitt is a guitarist, composer and improviser currently based in Toronto, Canada.
Originally from Hamilton, Ontario, Dan started studying guitar at 10 years old. Throughout his teens, he played music both in school and with bands at venues downtown. Eventually, Dan went on to study jazz at Mohawk College learning from guitarist Bob Shields. Afterwards, Dan moved to Toronto and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance at the University of Toronto. During his time there, Dan learned from many great musicians including, David Restivo, Geoff young, Andrew Downing, Jim Lewis, Terry Promane, Mike Murley and Phil Nimmons. Additionally, Dan also attended the School for Improvisational Music where he learned from David Torn, Brad Shepik, Ben Monder, Michael Formanek and Tony Malaby

Roman Smirnov

Roman Smirnov is an award-winning artist, producer, arranger and composer, performing classical and flamenco guitar. Roman is a classically trained guitarist. He obtained his musical education from the Tallinn Music Conservatory in Estonia, the Rubin Academy of Music in Israel, and the Academy of Music in Kassel, Germany. Since 2008 Roman lives in Canada and regularly performs with solo programs, duets, trios, quartets and small orchestras. These performances feature a variety of musicians, from classical string quartets to jazz ensembles, opera singers and different ethnic instruments like Chinese Pipa and Arabic Oud.

The Toronto Jazz Orchestra
The 18-piece Toronto Jazz Orchestra (TJO) was created in 1998 to perform music by some of the most important composers in jazz – writers like Thad Jones, Bob Brookmeyer, Phil Nimmons, Rob McConnell and more. Over the past 19 years, their repertoire has evolved to include compositions and arrangements ranging from classic swing tunes to the leading edge of contemporary jazz, with an emphasis on Canadian composers and arrangers. The TJO seeks to educate, entertain, and increase the public’s understanding and appreciation of big band jazz.
