Reinhard Gagel, Mirio Cosottini: Pieces without Memory

Read "Pieces without Memory" reviewed by Neri Pollastri

Brian Groder & Tonino Miano: FluiDensity

Read "FluiDensity" reviewed by Hrayr Attarian

Listening to the stimulating FluiDensity is akin to eavesdropping on an intelligent, ad-lib conversation between two friends. Trumpeter Brian Groder and pianist Tonino Miano, both master improvisers, mine the modernist western musical canon for the majority of their ideas and spice it up with a bit of jazz and various ethnic motifs. The energetic “Optika," ...

New Release on Impressus Records! Ulysses, Frantz Loriot (Viola), Tonino Miano (Piano)

Frantz Loriot and Tonino Miano met on MySpace not long ago and decided to have a session of improvised music. They immediately found an open channel of communication and understood that it needed to be investigated further. They did so by meeting almost regularly with the intent of developing a discourse that went beyond the immediacy ...

Mirio Cosottini and Tonino Miano Release "The Curvature of Pace" on Impressus Records

Mirio Cosottini and Tonino Miano Release "The Curvature of Pace" on Impressus Records

Mirio Cosottini and Tonino Miano met in Italy a little over nine years ago while recording for The Last Animal, from Zarathustra by Lorenzo Brusci. Four days in a recording studio led to a lot of experimenting; to an almost childlike open-mindedness that is rare to find in amateurs and seasoned artists alike. Session after session, ...

All About Jazz needs your support

All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded albums and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, limited reopenings and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary step that will help musicians and venues now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the sticky footer ad). Thank you!
