Graham Griffith

Born: May 25, 1950

Graham Griffith first took up conventional guitar at 14, studying classical guitar. In his early 20s he played self taught fiddle in a jug band called the Cosmo Hamfat Entertainers. After seeing virtuoso pedal steel guitarist Kenny Kitching in 1976 he bought his first pedal steel guitar (a Sho-Bud double neck 10 string) and began investigating its complexities.

He later spent 3 months at the end of 1978 with master instrument maker/player Zane Beck as well as playing in a local VFW club in Little Rock, Arkansas. He had adopted Zane's single neck 12 string E13th pedal steel tuning the year before. Zane instilled in Graham a love for jazz tunes, taking his playing beyond the usual country music "bag". 

Joe Hertenstein

Born in Germany. In NY since Jan07. Freelance musician. Joe Hertenstein's recent performances include concerts at the Philharmony in Cologne, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, and the Moers Festival and XjazzFestival in Germany; the Congress Hall in Warsaw, Bush Hall London for BBC, the Opera House in Toronto, the World Trade Center in Dubai, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC, as well as Carnegie Hall, Dizzy's Club, Smalls, Roulette, Issue Project Room and The Stone in New York City. In 2005 "All About Jazz NY" magazine praised his performance observing that "Joe Hertenstein's drums seem to be shaping the music from the bottom up", and in 2011 “Hertenstein practices that loose time-keeping so prevalent in Europe that the ignorant use to claim that an entire continent can’t swing.” In November 2010 the Portuguese label Clean Feed Records released his remarkable debut album as a leader and composer “HNH” featuring Thomas Heberer (tp) and Pascal Niggenkemper (b). In 2009, the German government honored the further development of his trio "HNH" with a composition stipend to fund the recording of their next album "POLYLEMMA" which was released on the Canadian label Red Toucan in June 2011. For his artistic achievements, Mr. Hertenstein has received numerous awards and grants on both sides of the Atlantic. From 2007-2009, City University of New York, in cooperation with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), granted him a full scholarship and tuition waiver to complete his Master of Arts degree in Jazz Studies at the City University of New York. Prior to his work in New York, Mr. Hertenstein studied music in Munich, Rotterdam, Berlin and Cologne. In Europe, he won multiple Jazz competitions, such as the Dutch Concours Ceramique Jazzcontest, and the German NRW-Jazzart-Prize. Mr. Hertenstein has received invitations to perform at a substantial number of festivals, such as the Hoeilaart Jazzfestival Brussels (Belgium), JekerJazz Maastricht (Netherlands), the Leverkusener Jazztage, Moers New Jazz Festival, Triennale 2007 (Germany), Portalegre Jazzfest (Portugal), Warsaw Jazz Summer (Poland) and many more. In 2009, he followed an invitation of the BBC to conduct a live performance with singer and Iranian dissenter Rana Farhan at Bush Hall in London. Mr. Hertenstein has performed and recorded with many international musicians such as Anthony Coleman, Kenny Werner, Chris Potter, Butch Morris, Juini Booth, Kenny Wollesen, Graham Haynes, Brandon Ross, Tristan Honsinger, Darius Jones, Jon Irabagon, Mat Maneri, Mossa Bildner, James Ilgenfitz, Sara Schoenbeck, Josh Sinton, Ken Filiano, Sean Conly, Todd Neufeld, Achim Tang, Thomas Lehn, Frank Gratkowski, Dieter Manderscheid, Matthias Schubert, Achim Kaufmann, Sebastian Gramss and Terrence Ngassa. He toured Europe in 2004 and 2005 with Canadian blues harp player Carlos del Junco. His work is released on labels such as MoersMusic, Cleanfeed, Red Toucan, 2nd Floor, jazzwerkstatt Berlin, Evil Rabbit, Chant, Springstoff, Ravello/PARMA, Meta, muworks, Konnex, Off, Fundacja Słuchaj, Leo and others. In addition to his performances, Mr. Hertenstein taught as a faculty member at the Offene Jazzhausschule Cologne from 2002-2007, he worked as a faculty member for drums and percussion at the Lycee Francais de New York, and the Trinity School in Manhattan and is a teaching artist for the Kupferberg Center of Queens College. For his album POLYLEMMA, Hertenstein won Belgian music critic Stef Gijssel's 'Happy New Ears Award' for most innovative listening experience of 2011. Joe Hertenstein’s project 'FUTURE DRONE' features German bassist and 'Improviser In Residence' in Moers 2011, Achim Tang, and the winner of the 2008 Thelonious Monk Competition, tenor saxophonist Jon Irabagon. The debut album of 'FUTURE DRONE' was released on jazzwerkstatt Berlin in June 2012. Hertenstein was a member of Butch Morris' NY ensembles Nublu Orchestra and LUCKY CHENG Orchestra. John Colianni

PIANIST JOHN COLIANNI - BIOGRAPHY
John Colianni is a pianist-arranger-composer, based in Philadelphia and NYC. Raised in suburban Maryland, John was a pupil of Lester Karr, who imparted Classical technique with studies of the Matthay method. John duly came to the attention of Ella Fitzgerald's bassist Keter Betts, who guided the young pianist  - still a teen - to his first professonal gigs (1970s-80s).  There followed a three-year stint, touring internationally and recording, with Jazz great Lionel Hampton's orchestra.  Shortly thereafter, John was finalist and cash prize winner in the 1st Thelonus Monk Piano Competition

Stardust Big Band is the North Olympic Peninsula’s premier big band jazz ensemble made up of the top jazz musicians in the region. Christine Moon sings top hits from the Great American Songbook.

Stardust Big Band is a 17-piece jazz ensemble with vocalist that has delighted audiences throughout the Puget Sound region. Based in Sequim, WA, the band prides itself on creating a quality musical product for people of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy.

Stardust’s roster includes veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces bands, the Port Angeles and Port Townsend Symphony Orchestras, music educators, and other professional musicians.

Leonard Maxson

Leonard Maxson (Drummer-based in rudimental drumming) Toured the USA, Canada, & Mexico backing many groups and bands doing show work, jazz, rock, blues, pop, & country then did the Nevada - California casino circuit for 6 years backing all styles of music in several bands. After many years of this settled in the Portland area forming the group Lisa & The Persons Three (Lisa Gale, Larry Adair, Ken Lomax,Leonard Maxson) lasting 5 years. Obtained a BA in Music Education and became a public high school band director teaching in Oregon for15 years. Presently returned to performance first backing shows, with jazz sets in between, on the cruise ship The Columbia Queen for a season; on the road was part of Magic Jerry and The Mojo Men, The Frantic Mystics, Take Three, Linda Leigh and The Lads, Southside Jazz Band, Susan and The Sound System, The Tokyo Playmates, Diamond Lil Show, The Riverboat Gamblers, and others.

John Stein

Born: June 19, 1949

Internationally renowned jazz guitarist John Stein was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri USA where he took up his instrument at an early age. His talent for and love of music ultimately earned him a faculty position at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he was a Professor in the Harmony Department. John Stein is an experienced teacher, clinician, recording artist, and author. John has performed as a leader or a sideman with some of the world's finest jazz acts, and his compositions and performances cover the spectrum of jazz styles. John is a prolific recording artist as a leader, in addition to the contributions he has made to other artists' projects

Andreas Hertel

Born: 1964

Andreas Hertel is a German jazz pianist, composer, bandleader, and piano teacher. Since the early 90ies he has been active on the German jazz scene.
He published 10 CDs with mainly original compositions in solo, trio, and quintet settings and wrote about 200 jazz tunes, some big band arrangements, and theatre music. Two of his CDs received longlist nominations for a German Record Critic's Award ("Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik"): "Blue Bop" (Trio, 2022) and "Keepin' the Spirit" (2015), feat. guest stars Dusko Goykovich (tp/flh), Tony Lakatos (sax), "Lady Bass" Lindy Huppertsberg (b), Jens Biehl (dr). 
His Christmas song "It might be Christmas Every Day" won a "Global Music Award" (Silver Medal) in March 2024. 
His bands also do tribute programs to Toots Thielemans and Bill Evans (feat. Jens Bunge-harm), Miles, Coltrane, the great Jazz Ladies (feat. Anne Czichowsky-voc), Milt Jackson (feat. Matthias Strucken-vib), piano/saxophone/trumpet in jazz, Europe and jazz, a.o. ... 

Jake Leckie

Jake Leckie creates acoustic organic soulful folk-jazz for the people! With firm roots in jazz, his playing is informed by classical, gospel, latin, folk, & hip- hop. His credits include touring with Sixto “Sugarman” Rodriguez, recording and touring with The Harlem Gospel Travelers, traveling to the Havana Jazz Festival to perform with Spanish saxophonist Gianni Gagliardi, recording two albums with Canadian pianist/composer Cat Toren for her Human Kind project, working as a session player with producer Bekon, playing SFJazz and Angel City Jazz Festival and recording Water Stem with saxophonist Hitomi Oba, and playing at The Apollo Theater and Newport Jazz Festival with piano prodigy Matthew Whitaker
