Ivan Mazuze

Born: April 1, 1981

Ivan Mazuze is a Norway-based composer, award-winning saxophonist and world jazz artist of Mozambique origin. Mazuze initiated his studies in music in 1987 at the National Music School in his home country Mozambique. Piano was his first instrument and after seven years of classical piano training, he joined the woodwind section with a jazz study approach and a focus on improvisation. Mazuze continued his studies at the University of Cape Town, South Africa in the Department of Jazz and Musicology. He holds an honors degree in jazz and composition studies and is a master's graduate in ethnomusicology. He writes ethnomusicological articles about music and trance in ritual practices which have been released in the educational magazine The Talking Drum.

John Kocur

Jazz saxophonist and composer John Kocur is captivating new audiences by putting an adventurous yet accessible spin on a classic tradition. Kocur’s compositions have been described as “mainly straight-ahead and clearly influenced by the playing of past masters such as Johnny Hodges and Cannonball Adderley, but they are not simply derivative. The ballads in particular display a maturity in writing and playing” (Bruce Lindsay, All About Jazz). While highlighting original music, the group also creates unique interpretations of popular American songs from past and present. The group’s style is an intimate, all-acoustic format, where the music takes center stage. Recent performances by the John Kocur Quartet have included venues such as Bohemian Caverns, Blues Alley, Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, the DC Jazz Festival, Twins Jazz, and the Phillips Collection.

Kenney Polson

Jazz saxophonist Kenney Polson is a distinguished musician, composer and educator. Currently based in the Pacific Northwest, he has lived and performed in over 50 countries. Known widely as a smooth jazz artist, his seasoned musical style incorporates Latin, classical, New Age, rhythm & blues, funk and gospel influences. Polson has appeared on U.S. television with jazz greats Kenny Burrell, Jimmy Heath, Phil Woods, David Sanborn and Wynton Marsalis, and on the popular “Show do Jimmy” show in Bogota, Colombia. He has performed live with Joe Williams, Gil Scott-Heron, Michael Henderson, Norman Connors, Bettye Swan and Lee Garrett. Polson’s smooth saxophone is well known in Pacific Northwest jazz haunts such as The Jazz Station in Eugene, Jack London Jazz Club in Portland, The Royal Esquire in Seattle and the 1905 Jazz Club in Portland

Quantum Trio

Active since: June 24, 2012

Polish-Chilean trio founded in 2012 in Rotterdam. The name is not accidental, clearly resonating in the group’s compositions. Component, inseparable and equivalent elements: Michał Jan Ciesielski (saxophones), Kamil Zawiślak (piano), Luis Mora Matus (drums). The Quantum Trio was born out of friendship, youthful dreams and musical explorations. Its members met at the conservatory of Codarts Rotterdam – University for the Arts – a university where music from different parts of the world and different cultures meet. This includes the diversity and openness, as well as great lecturers, that attract students from various parts of the world

Reto Anneler

Born: July 25, 1977

Reto Anneler studied jazz at the conservatories of Lucerne and Amsterdam with Nathanael Su, Tineke Postma and Kurt Rosenwinkel. As a sought-after sideman and specialist for woodwinds of all kinds, he is a member of a wide range of international projects: Lead-Alto of the Zurich Jazz Orchestra, Swiss Jazz Orchestra, Keller's <10>, Sinatra Tribute Band and Peter Eigenmann/Ken Cervenka Nonet. Reto Anneler received the Erasmus scholarship for Amsterdam in 2003, attended Dave Liebman’s international jazzmeeting IASJ in Krakow and was "Pro Argovia Artist" in 2010. Laurent Doumont

Laurent Doumont

Laurent Doumont is a saxophone player, singer & songwriter from Brussels with a natural inclination for soul and jazz. 
In the 90’s he took part in Michel Hatzigeorgiou’s tribute to Jaco Pastorius. 

He then began his career as a free lance musician, playing in several funk and jazz bands, including some gigs with Fred Wesley. 
In 1999 he moved to New York, where he took some classes with Chris Potter. He eventually spent two years there, playing and hanging out in jam sessions. 

Upon his return, he resumed his activities as a sideman (among others with Boney M, George Mc Crae, Boogie Boy and Daniel Romeo) while developing a personal project that culminated in the release of his first album Soul Quintet in 2001.

Mike Tomaro

Mike Tomaro has been the Director of the Jazz Studies Program at the Mary Pappert School of Music at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA since 1997.  The saxophonist, composer, arranger and educator earned his B.S. degree in Music Edu­cation from Duquesne and his M.A. degree in Saxophone Perfor­mance from George Mason University.  Prior to his appointment at Duquesne, he lived in the Washington, D.C. area for seventeen years as a member of the Army Blues Jazz Ensemble, a unit of the prestigious “Pershing’s Own” U.S. Army Band.  While a member of this group, he served as its Enlisted Musical Director and performed for Presidents Reagan, Bush and Clinton as well as heads of state from around the world.  He also composed and/or arranged much of the Army Blues repertoire and was featured as a soloist on several of the group’s albums and CDs.  Mike is a Yamaha Performing Artist and Vandoren Diamond Artist. 

Julian Costello

Julian Costello is a London-based saxophonist, composer and teacher. He composes music for his group and Vertigo. He is releasing a new album in Spring 2024 called And All The Birds Were Set Free on 33Jazz records.

It has an excellent line up of musicians John Turville piano Andy hamill double bass and Tom Hooper drums. They are joined by Georgia mancio singing on two tunes. His previous quartet has completed three tours of the UK with support from The Arts Council of England and performed concerts in France, Germany, Poland and Belgium. Julian is also a private teacher and runs Jazz based workshops.

Seth Kibel

Seth Kibel is one of the Mid-Atlantic's premier woodwind specialists, working with some of the best bands in klezmer, jazz, swing, and more. Wowing audiences on clarinet, flute, and saxophone, Seth has made a name for himself in the Washington/Baltimore region and beyond. He is a featured performer with The Kleztet, Bay Jazz Project, Music Pilgrim Trio, Daryl Davis Band, The Natty Beaux, and more. Winner of 28 Washington Area Music Awards (Wammies), including "Best World Music Instrumentalist" (2003-11) and "Best Jazz Instrumentalist" (2005, 2007-8, 2011-14). His most recent recording, "Clarinet, Without a Net," was released in June 2026 on the Azalea City Recordings record label
