The clamor of the socializing begins as families and seniors begin making their way to relatives, friends, and warm, familiar conversation. As the peacefulness of the day almost subsides completely, an anxious spark within two very small brothers sends them straight away to the church's spinet piano where the friendly noises all around provide them with more than adequate "cover" for their somewhat theatrical re-creations of Mrs. Butler's powerful, gospel-influenced stylings. Bob Ravenscroft
Pianist-keyboardist Bob Ravenscroft is an accomplished jazz musician, composer, recording artist, and teacher. Most of Bob's recording activities have been in jazz trio and solo piano formats. Recently, he is concentrating his recording activities on the solo piano idiom and the group Inner Journeys. Both settings explore his love of free composition modalities. His newest venture in recording and performance has been in the presentation of "LoveSong" concerts which mix his reading of standard jazz lyrics and other related poetry with both straight-ahead and freestyle solo piano renderings. Max Petersen
Born in Sydney, Australia in 1994, Max began playing piano at the age of three, learning with the Suzuki method. When the Petersen family moved to Germany in 1998 he began taking regular piano lessons. At the age of 13 Max started playing in his first band with local musicians from Konstanz, Germany. This was when he began to practice more intensively and started composing original music for the group. At the age of 15, Max joined a special high school program in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland through which he started to take piano lessons at the conservatory in Zurich with Chris Wiesendanger. With only 17 years, Max was enrolled at the conservatory in Zurich, studying Jazz. In summer 2013 his high school’s classical orchestra performed Max' composition for orchestra entitled "Fantasie". In 2013/2014 Max studied at Manhattan School of Music in New York at the age of 19, attending the studio of Vijay Iyer, Jim Mcneely, Phil Markowitz and Donny Mccaslin. Tagg-Petersen Duo
The Kathleen Tagg /Andre Petersen Piano Duo brings together two of South Africa’s most celebrated pianists, one eclectic classical and one jazz artist, in a unique collaboration. Drawing from the rich sonic tapestries of classical music, and the nuances of South African jazz and indigenous musics from southern Africa, this duo explores diverse realms of possibilities within the sound world of the piano, with performances of original compositions and works by iconic South African jazz composers.
