Rebecca Cline

Born and raised in the Southeastern United States, Rebecca Cline has lived in Boston since 1999. After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1994 with a degree in Latin American Studies and a minor in Music, she spent several years living and traveling in Latin America, including Cuba, Brazil, Ecuador, and Puerto Rico. She earned a second degree from Berklee College of Music in 2001. Currently an Associate Professor at Berklee, she has been teaching Latin jazz and mixed-styles ensembles, Cuban piano classes, and jazz studies there since 2003. Rebecca is the author of Latin Jazz Piano: Clave, Comping and Soloing, published by Berklee Press

Hammer Klavier Trio

Veryan Weston

Born: September 3, 1950

Veryan Weston - pianist, composer, arranger and improviser. Born in Sussex, UK, 3rd September 1950. He received a fellowship from the Digswell Arts Trust in Hertfordshire that allowed him to continue his work exploring piano improvisation which included his research in to pentatonic scale relationships. While at Digswell, he co-founded and composed for the group Stinky Winkles who were voted 'Young jazz Musicians of 1979' by Greater London Arts Association. He performed music for film, the most notable being his work with Lol Coxhill on director Derek Jarman's Caravaggio (1986). Weston's interest in collaborating with artists from other disciplines led him to earn a degree in performance art from Middlesex University and he also earned a master's degree in music composition from Goldsmith's College University in London

Romain Collin

Born: October 24, 1979

Described by NPR host Jon Weber as “a visionary composer, an extraordinary jazz pianist and a very bright young rising star in the jazz world”, Romain Collin continues to develop his vision, combining the tradition of improvisation with sound designing and classical music. Now releasing his second record as a leader, Collin keeps making his mark on the New York scene, as well as internationally. In 2007, Romain Collin graduated from the prestigious Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz where he held a Full Scholarship as the pianist of an ensemble handpicked by Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and Terence Blanchard. During his time at the TMIJ, Romain studied with the likes of Larry Goldings, Russell Ferrante, Ron Carter, Charlie Haden, Mulgrew Miller and Wynton Marsalis, and had the opportunity to tour with Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter in Vietnam and India

Zoe Rahman

Described in The Observer as "a remarkable pianist by any standard”, Zoe Rahman has firmly established herself as one of the brightest stars on the contemporary jazz scene. A vibrant and highly individual pianist/composer, her style is deeply rooted in jazz yet it reflects her classical background, British/Bengali heritage and her very broad musical taste. Known for her powerful technique, wide-ranging imagination and exuberant performance, she has become a highly sought-after musician. Born in Chichester, UK, to a Bengali father and English mother, Zoe studied classical piano at the Royal Academy of Music, took a music degree at Oxford University and then won a scholarship to study jazz performance at Berklee College of Music, Boston, where she studied with the inspirational pianist JoAnne Brackeen. Her second album, "Melting Pot", was nominated in 2006 for one of the UK’s most prestigious music awards, the Nationwide Mercury Prize and it also won ‘Jazz Album of the Year’ at the UK’s first Parliamentary Jazz Awards. Since then, she has recorded two more critically acclaimed albums

Miki Hayama

Miki Hayama is a GRAMMY Nominated piano/keyboard player, arranger and musical director, born in Kyoto, Japan, lives in NYC.

She graduated from Osaka College of Music where majored in classical piano, and studied jazz piano with renowned jazz pianist Sadayasu Fujii in Kyoto. After graduated from College, she started to work at many Jazz clubs in Kansai area. Her ambition to pursue Jazz didn't stop her but made her move to New York. Since 2003, Ms. Hayama has been busy making quite a respected name for herself on New York's jazz scene. She has toured and shared the stage with many greats —Kenny Garrett, Ralph Peterson, Sean Jones, Tia Fuller, Michael Dease, Vincent Herring, Bruce Williams, Roy Hargrove, JD Allen, Greg Osby, Cindy Blackman-Santana, Nnenna Freelon, Jazzmeia Horn, Christian McBride, Eric Harland, Gary Thomas, and even the queen of soul, Aretha Franklin to name a few. Her own 2006 sophomore release "Prelude to a Kiss" received a five-star rating in Swing Journal. Her 3rd studio album "Wide Angle" got Swing Journal's Gold Disc Award in March 2009, Best Production Award in January, 2010. She plays on many recordings as a side person includes on Tia Fuller's "Pillar of Strength" and "Healing Space", Sharel Casity's "Evolve", Mimi Jones's "A New Day" and "Balance", Michael Dease Big Band's "Relentless", Nnenna Freelon's "Christmas". She worked as a musical director as well as an arranger and keyboardists on Nnenna Freelon's new studio album " Time Traveler " which was released on May 21, 2021, and won the Grammy nomination.

Talking Cows

Born: July 20, 1957

Jazz is deep but you are allowed to have fun, right? Almost Human (2012) is the third CD of Talking Cows, after Bovinity (2006) and Dairy Tales (2008). Talking Cows was founded in 2004 by pianist Robert Jan Vermeulen and saxophonist Frans Vermeerssen. There was a bit more to it then just two musicians who liked each other’s playing. Until then they had never played together: they came from totally different areas of the Dutch jazz scene. The idea came up to make the group ‘a celebration of differences’, so that the different backgrounds became the subject of the group’s material

Christian Wallumrod

Born: 1971

Christian Wallumrød has worked as a musician and composer since 1992, and he is considered one of the most prominent musicians of the younger Norwegian generation. He made his debut on ECM Records with the album “No Birch” (issued in 1996) to considerable critical acclaim. The album “Sofienberg Variations” with a new ensemble (Christian Wallumrød Ensemble: with Nils Økland, Arve Henriksen and Per Oddvar Johansen) was released on ECM in 2003. Wallumrøds third album ”A Year From Easter”, with the same ensemble, was released in spring 2005 on the German record label. An extended version of his acoustic ensemble (sextet with long time partners Henriksen and Johansen in addition to Gjermund Larsen on violins, Tanja Orning on cello and Giovanna Pessi on baroque harp) played Wallumrøds compositions on the album ”The Zoo Is Far” (ECM, 2007)

Paquito Hechavarria

Pianist Paquito Hechavarria, began his professional career as a teenage prodigy in the mid-1950s in his native Cuba. His impressive resume reads like a historical document of the Golden Age of Cuban music. Hechavarria was already an established musician in 1955 playing with the Conjunto Colonial de Nelo Sosa. He was pianist with Conjunto Senen Suarez in 1957. By 1958 he was involved in the Club Cubano de Jazz, which was musical group featured at the famed Salon Arcos de Cristal de Tropicana, the same year he was also in Conjunto Casino. In 1960 he was the pianist and vibraphonist in Los Armonicos the most popular combo of the day. Paquito played for several prestigious bands of the era including replacing the legendary pianist Peruchin in Havana’s number one big band, Orquesta Riverside when Peruchin formed his own band. Still in 1960 Paquito Hechavarria recorded with Mongo Santamaria and Willie Bobo who were visiting Cuba, an album that turned out to be the last recording made in Cuba for a US label, the landmark “Our Man In Havana” for Fantasy Records
