Hiromu Aoki

Born: December 17, 1953

Aoki-san is originally from Osaka, Japan. He is one of Tokyo's most sought-after accompanists for vocalists. His sensitivity, timing, and rhythmic swing are hard to beat. Versatile, he plays original music, Jazz Standards, Blues, Japanese Music, all with his signature Jazz-Blues-Swinging style. I have worked with Aoki-san in Tokyo, for 20 years! As a pianist, he swings hard, is innovative; his musicality both supports and inspires fantastic performances, of all co-members of a gig. Geraldine is the dedicated wife of Patrick; they are the proud parents of two, Chinita and Patrick, Jr. and the blessed grandparents of four beautiful grandchildren. Patrick, Jr. is a previous Husker football player and was inducted into the Nebraska and the Millard Hall of Fame; he was also recently inducted into the Academic All-American Hall of Fame. Chinita has a very successful career in the banking industry where she started from the ground level and has worked her way up into upper level management. Sharp Radway

Sharp Radway is a pianist/composer/arranger/author who is a native of Hartford, Connecticut and currently resides in Brooklyn, New York. He is a self-taught pianist whose roots can be found in the church. As a jazz pianist he has played throughout the country and abroad. Ernie Edwards

Paying tribute to a great musician is what this project is about. Edwards has been blind his entire life. One of his favorite artists is Erroll Garner. For years he listened and learned the style that made Erroll famous hoping one day to be able to play like him. Finally after connecting with two great talents, Ernie was able to pull together a tribute to Garner. The Ernie Edwards Trio, featuring Ernie Edwards on piano. Jacob Webb on bass and Nathan Webb on drums, released their first recording dedicated to the late Erroll Garner. “One Good Turn” was recorded live at the Riverview Studios in Bordentown, NJ in April of 2010. The selections were all performed in the style of Garner including an original written by Edwards and dedicated to Garner

Alister Spence

Born: August 23, 1955

Alister is recognized as one of Australia’s most original, distinctive contemporary jazz pianists/composers. With a performing and composing career spanning more than 25 years, his wide-ranging talents have led him to perform with and compose for some of the world’s most respected artists in the areas of contemporary music, improvisation, film and theatre. In recent years he has devoted his energy to writing and performing with his trio, The Alister Spence Trio with Lloyd Swanton (the Necks) on double bass and Toby Hall (formerly with pianist, Mike Nock) drums and glockenspiel. This celebrated group has recorded six CDs (Rufus Records and Alister Spence Music [ASM]) and has a growing international reputation. Their most recent CD, Not Everything But Enough (ASM005, 2017) was listed in Top 10 Jazz Releases 2017, Music Magazine Japan and "Honorary Mention Best of 2017" in New York City Jazz Record

Ruslan Sirota

Born: November 4, 1980

Ruslan Sirota (born November 4, 1980) is a Grammy Award winning pianist, keyboardist, composer and producer. Ruslan was born in Uman, Ukraine to a Jewish family on November 4, 1980. His father, Yefim, who was an active local guitarist, had introduced him to music at an early age. Picking up guitar around the age of four, Ruslan had transitioned to piano around the age of seven. In 1990, his family moved to Israel, where he continued to study piano at the Bat-Yam music school. At approximately 14, Ruslan discovered jazz, instantly showing imminent interest. By the age of 16, he was the "wunderkind" keyboardist for the then- popular Israeli jazz fusion band, "Confusion"

Nikolaj Hess

Multiple award-winning pianist and composer Nikolaj Hess is a sophisticated, boundary-pushing virtuoso artist with a sound that spans Nordic jazz, post-bop, new-classical, and Global jazz traditions. His touch on the piano is described as effervescent and golden, and Mitch Myers from Magnet Magazine/Down Beat calls him “one of the most inventive pianists working today”.

His deep background in jazz, classical and scandinavian folk music together with his interest in West-African music has combined in a unique creative amalgam of his own, leading to numerous international collaborations and releases of his own, latest a series of albums based on his peer reviewed artistic research project Transformative Reflections, in the transdisciplinary field of music and visual arts, and a solo concert series at MoMA, The Metropolitan Museum, The Getty Museum, and The Smithsonian. Hess has performed at jazz festivals and high profile venues in many parts of the world, and even played with Fela Kuti and Femi Kuti at the legendary “The Shrine” in Lagos.

Amy Bormet

Currently living in Los Angeles, Amy K. Bormet is an in-demand pianist, vocalist, and composer. The quintet from her debut album, Striking, was featured as part of the Mary Lou Williams Jazz Festival at the Kennedy Center. As an advocate for women in music, Amy created the Washington Women in Jazz Festival in 2011 and continues to serve as executive director. Amy K Bormet’s latest project, Ephemera, is a platform for her new art songs with improvisation. Ephemera performed a two-week tour of Sweden in the fall of 2015. In addition to her performance career, Ms. Bormet is a prolific composer frequently combining improvisation with concert music

Jean-Marie Machado

Of Portuguese and Italian origins, Jean-Marie Machado was born in 1961 in Tangiers, Morocco. He studied classical and contemporary music with famous French concert pianist Catherine Collard and, at the same time, musical theory (harmony, counterpoint, fugues). Alternating with his classical training, he became increasingly involved in composition and improvisation.

He has been recognized in the mid-eighties as one of the most talented French jazzmen thanks to the success of the Trio Machado. He recorded several albums for the famous Label Bleu. Also very appreciated as a composer, he has worked with classical and contemporary ensembles and led several original groups such as "Vibracordes" >> (with guest Nana Vasconcelos) or "French Piano Trio" with Martial Solal
