Kristian Skaarbrevik

Kristian Skaarbrevik, originally from the west coast city Aalesund, is a guitarist and composer based in Oslo. His music explores encounters between various shades of rock guitar, classical music, improvisation and electronic music. Skaarbrevik grew up in a musical world filled with Kiss cassettes and punk vinyl records. His first conscious encounter with classical music was when he as a child received a tape with the film music of “2001 " A Space Odyssey”, with various composers such as Ligeti. Since he picked up the guitar for the first time, he has improvised and composed music. Skaarbrevik's works and musicianship often involves usage of music technology, graphic and traditional scores and social environments. Skaarbrevik has a Bachelor degree from Berklee College of Music, Boston, where he besides studies in composition and music technology studied guitar with Mick Goodrich

Gisle Torvik

Gisle Torvik born 2nd of June 1975 in Bergen, Norway is a Norwegian musician from Tørvikbygd in Hardanger. Amazingly he didn't pick up the guitar before at the age of 17, but is still considered as one of the most talented Nordic jazz guitarists. Torvik released his first album in 1999 called Naken uten gitar which translates to Naked without guitar, where among others Sigmund Groven and Petter Wettre contributed. The album Frozen Moment was released in 2009 featuring Hilde Norbakken on vocals, to good reviews. This was his first album combining vocals and guitar as lead voices. In march 2011 his song I remember reached the semi-final of ISC International Songwriting Competition

Henrik Munkeby Norstebo

Born: July 29, 1986

Henrik Munkeby Nørstebø (born 1986 in Trondheim) is a trombonist working mostly within contemporary fields of music. Educated in improvised music and jazz from the music academies in Gothenburg (BA) and Oslo (MA),he is now based in the Norwegian capital. An ambiguous relationship with the trombone has led him to explore both the boisterous and brassy side of the instrument, as well as it’s counterpoint in microscopic and ‘electronic’ sound possibilities. Utilizing a wide spectrum of playing techniques, from pure long tones to noise and the almost inaudible, he often works balancing the intuitive with the precisely constructed. Nørstebø’s time is divided between his regular projects; trios As deafness increases, Lana trio, Whirl (with Tobias Delius) and Nørstebø/Strid/de Heney, duo BEAM SPLITTER (with Audrey Chen), new music ensemble “Aksiom” and the freejazzpop-band “Skadedyr”. He is also a member of several project based groups, and have appeared in a myriad of ad hoc settings

Espen Wensaas

Born: November 14, 1986

Espen is a positive and versatile musician who plays several different instruments. Guitars and mandolins being his main field. In addition to handle different stringed instruments such as electric guitar, acoustic guitar, mandolin, mandola and cittern, Espen can also offer music performed on the ram's horn, goat horn flute, Chinese Hulusi and other wind instruments. With good knowledge of several different music styles and with a strong connection to improvisation Espen is well equipped to provide any musical situation with something distinctive and positive.

Kjetil Husebø

Born: May 2, 1975

Kjetil Husebø (aka Optical Substance) is a norwegian keyboard-player and a classically trained piano-player with a background from such varied musical landscapes as:improvisation, electronica, pop, cross-over, folk and jazz. He debued with his own band; Coffee Pain at Nattjazz in Bergen in 1996 and he also wrote commissioned music to the municipality of Modalen in 1997. The same year he began to collaborate with Jigme Drupka (singer from Buthan) and he also played with Dj Erot (RIP) both in studio and on stage.

In 1999, Kjetil focused mainly on his studies at the University of Oslo (major-degree in History of Ideas in 2005). In 2000 he also played with the norwegian pop-band Bloom.

Per Zanussi

Born: January 31, 1977

Born in 1977, Per Zanussi grew up in Stavanger, Norway with an Italian father and Norwegian mother. He started playing various instruments at five but picked up the bass at 13 playing in rock bands. After discovering jazz he quickly switched to double bass. In 1996, while still a student in Trondheim he founded the electronic project Wibutee together with Håkon Kornstad and Wetle Holte.This outfit recorded 3 albums with Zanussi and toured most of the world in the following years. In 2001 he founded his longest lasting project to date, Zanussi 5, playing Zanussi's compositions in an acoustic format

Christian Wallumrod

Born: 1971

Christian Wallumrød has worked as a musician and composer since 1992, and he is considered one of the most prominent musicians of the younger Norwegian generation. He made his debut on ECM Records with the album “No Birch” (issued in 1996) to considerable critical acclaim. The album “Sofienberg Variations” with a new ensemble (Christian Wallumrød Ensemble: with Nils Økland, Arve Henriksen and Per Oddvar Johansen) was released on ECM in 2003. Wallumrøds third album ”A Year From Easter”, with the same ensemble, was released in spring 2005 on the German record label. An extended version of his acoustic ensemble (sextet with long time partners Henriksen and Johansen in addition to Gjermund Larsen on violins, Tanja Orning on cello and Giovanna Pessi on baroque harp) played Wallumrøds compositions on the album ”The Zoo Is Far” (ECM, 2007)
