Charles Rumback, Kuzu and More

Read "Charles Rumback, Kuzu and More" reviewed by Maurice Hogue

There's a slight Chicago flavour to this episode. Drummer Charles Rumback hooked up with noted New Orleans bassist James Singleton for Rumback's latest recording, Cadillac Turns. In an odd twist of strange, Singleton approached a jet-lagged Rumback in a bar in Sydney Australia and said he had seen Rumback playing in a Chicago bar a few ...

Il meglio del 2016 Secondo Paolo Peviani

Read "Il meglio del 2016 Secondo Paolo Peviani" reviewed by Paolo Peviani

Dal punto di vista discografico, quella del 2016 è stata un'annata molto ricca. Nessun picco straordinario ma tanti buoni, ottimi dischi, da ascoltare e riascoltare con attenzione. Fabio Delvò: Rastplatz

Read "Rastplatz" reviewed by Dave Wayne

I became aware of Fabio Delvo's music via his recordings with guitarist Jeff Platz. Platz has an ear for first-rate musicianship, and his recordings with lesser-known European musicians such as Delvo, Jan Klare, and Meinrad Kneer have been nothing short of revelatory. The title of Delvo's second album as a leader, Rastplatz, isn't a tribute to ...

Lotz / Kneer: U-EX(perimental)

Read "U-EX(perimental)" reviewed by Eyal Hareuveni

In 2009, Dutch flautist Mark Alban Lotz and bassist Meinrad Kneer initiated a monthly creative music series, titled U-EX(perimental), at Centraal Museum in Utrecht, presenting performances of spontaneous free improvisations. After about 120 concerts Lotz and Kneer decided to document some of these unique musical meetings in a tiny studio in Amsterdam--so tiny that there was ...
