Kneebody makes their Motéma Music debut on March 3 with the release of Anti-Hero, the pulsating result of that creative rebirth, featuring an assured set of churning backbeats and unrestrained exploration. When Kneebody first convened in the year 2001, they were five twenty-somethings gigging around Los Angeles’ vast pockets of nightlife

Kneebody: Chapters

Read "Chapters" reviewed by Mike Jacobs

Chapters--the title of Kneebody's 2019 release--has a certain appropriateness, as it definitely marks several new ones for the band. One being that lyric-oriented songs account for nearly half of the material on the album. Technically, vocals are nothing new to Kneebody. The band included one track with vocals on their 2002 proto-Kneebody album Wendel. Its 2009 ...

Panagiotis Andreou: The World In A Bass

Read "Panagiotis Andreou: The World In A Bass" reviewed by Mike Jacobs

My first encounter with Panagiotis Andreou was while covering a bass workshop that included him along with the likes of Richard Bona (Zawinul Syndicate, Mike Stern), Michael League (Snarky Puppy), Dwayne “Mono Neon" Thomas (Prince, Ghost Note) and Wes Stephenson (The Funky Knuckles). All of these players seemed humbled by each other's presence during the opening ...

Waldo's Gift: Capturing the Moment

Read "Waldo's Gift: Capturing the Moment" reviewed by Luke Seabright

If you were to somehow draw a map of the UK along cultural rather than demographic lines, suddenly London wouldn't be so disproportionately large. After all, the most influential pop group of all time came from a small city a few hundred kilometres north of the capital. Bristol is another town that has carved out a ...

Read "Light of Love" reviewed by Luca Muchetti
