Derek Bomback

Derek Bomback brings a distinctive voice to jazz guitar. His career has taken him all over the world with performances on six of the seven continents. Vocalist Jay Jackson has said of Bomback’s playing: “Displayed a soulful patience that you don’t often find…” Bomback’s music combines influences from American and European jazz, to bring a fresh sound to his sophisticated, yet melodic playing. Derek studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he received dual degrees in Jazz Composition and Guitar Performance in 2010. Shortly after moving back to Los Angeles, he was hired by Princess Cruise Lines where he is currently one of the company’s musical directors.

EUGENE GREY is an internationally traveled and acclaimed Jamaican guitarist, arranger, composer, and music educator. According to Rootz Reggae & Kulcha magazine, “Eugene Grey is yet another of the many genius guitarists of world class status that Jamaica has produced” playing professionally from the age of 14. Eugene has toured worldwide as lead guitarist with such artists as Grammy Award winners Burning Spear and Toots and the Maytals, Sly and Robbie as well as Culture, Fab 5, and the internationally acclaimed Kid Creole and the Coconuts. Other artists Eugene has performed with include Max Romeo whom he toured with for the first time in Europe, Horace Andy, Big Youth, The Harlem Renaissance Orchestra, America’s Singing Poet Steve DePass, West Africa’s Abdou M’Boup and Vieux Diop, Tony Cafresi and His Latin Orchestra, The Wailers, and The Skatalites. Juan D Arango

With 6 recordings as a leader Juan D Arango is in a constant exploration of concepts where improvisation plays a very important role in the development of compositions. Currently, Juan is playing with AKA TRIO, MÈDULLA and AHUM. On february 2018 he forms a duo called Mèdulla with drummer Pedro Acosta, the duo explores the pc as part of the music and the timbre, they improvise over original compositions, standards and popular songs. Also, alongside Pedro Acosta and Kike Harker, on 2018 they decided to start a new project, trio style AKA TRIO. The trio have a strong influence of 1950´s BlueNote Artists such as Jackie McLean, Lee Morgan, Louis Smith, Hank Mobley, Kenny Drew, Curtis Fuller, Sonny Stitt among others and a great influence by Colombia roots music

Lorenzo Petrocca
Born:
Lorenzo Petrocca, born in 1964 at Crotone/southern Italy, came to Germany in 1979 as an emigrant with his family. He mastered the big changes of the two cultures and the loss of everything familiar to him by the boxing - a sport he already practised in Italy before. In 1981 he succeeded in being the Champion of Wuerttemberg in his weight class.From 1982 on he showed his first musical interests. At that time he was already 18 years old. And so he bought his first electric guitar. Soon after that he already played with Italian dance bands, from 1986 on within soul and funk bands among American soldiers. The Jazz he finally discovered in 1989 when he was already 25 years.Today Lorenzo can be heard with his new Band "Italian Organ Trio" together with Alberto Marsico and Tommy Bradascio, his "Lorenzo Petrocca Organ Trio" and his Quartet all over Germany and more and more in his home country Italy as well as in many European countries. Lorenzo Petrocca is also a demanded sideman, for example as a member of Ulla Haesen Band, Anne Czichowsky Trio, Max De Aloe Quartet, Barbara Bürkles Swingin' Woods , We remember Charles Swing Band, and also the "Olymp ALL STARS".In July 1998, he succeeded at the International Band Contest in Vienne-France as the second best band of the contest.In April 2001, he received the Honorary Citizenship of the City of New Orleans after a one week tour through Lousiana/USA.2011 winner of "Archtop-Germany CD des Jahres 2011" with his original composition CD "My Music" as BEST Jazz-guitar CD in Germany. Recently he released his first Solo Album "My Foolish Heart", which has been nominated for the "Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik".

Felipe Alonso
Guitarist and composer Felipe Alonso, raised in Peru, is much at ease in both electric and acoustic settings. His dedication for the guitar has led him to explore jazz music in the US and flamenco in Spain. Felipe moved to Los Angeles to attend Musicians Institute in Hollywood and the prestigious Thornton School of Music at University of Southern California. Juan Saidón was born in Buenos Aires in 1995. He is a guitarist, composer and arranger. At the age of 24, he is awarded a scholarship by the Fondo Nacional de las Artes to compose music for the trio he leads since 2017, " escribir: ". He studied guitar with Pepe Luna, Pedro Rossi, Juan Pablo Arredondo and Liliana Ardissone. He studied composition and arrangements with Juan "Pollo" Raffo. He also taught master classes with Diego Schissi, Julian Peralta, Ernesto Jodos, Tony Malaby, among others. As guitarist participates in groups of various styles such as Manto de Carne (jazz- fusion) and Duo Cottet- Saidón (tango and folklore). He has been a music teacher since 2014. James Emery
Co-founder of the chamber ensemble The String Trio of New York, virtuoso guitarist and composer James Emery has received international recognition for his distinctive and highly original approach to both improvisation and composition. Utilizing a full range of musical information, his sensibility draws in nearly equal measures upon formal notions of structure and technique and a robust willingness to improvise, experiment, and follow his musical knowledge – both as composer and player.
Artistic Director of the highly accomplished Sound Directions, Inc., James has been active as performer, oft-commissioned composer and inspiring educator on the international jazz and contemporary music scene since 1975, with over two dozen CDs as a leader or co-leader and live performances in more than 25 countries worldwide. His recordings have been described as “innovative and imaginative” and “utterly distinctive” by the Penguin Guide to Jazz, which selected his orchestral recording, Transformations for its edition titled "The History of Jazz in the 1001 Best Albums." He has received international critical acclaim for his work leading various ensemble formations of jazz and creative music, particularly the String Trio of New York which is entering its fifth decade in 2019.

Koji Yoneyama

Koji is a New York-based guitar player and composer with a background in jazz, rock, Funk, Soul, and pop. He was born and raised in Osaka, Japan in 1987, graduated from Osaka University of Arts with a Bachelors in Music. Koji started playing guitar at the age of 11 and won first prize in the for Best Guitarist in the 2005 Fresh Musician Championship in Osaka. At 21 he began studying Jazz under professors Sadao Ikeda, Takashi Nakamura who teach at Osaka University of Arts. To continue his progress upon graduation, Koji studied with the legendary Kazuhiko Takeda. Since moving to New York City, Koji also had the opportunity to study with Pasquale Grasso. After graduating, Koji worked at many venues in the Osaka area as a professional session guitarist

Warren Galea

Warren Galea is a guitarist, pianist, and composer from Malta. His third and latest album - Meditations, a collection of solo guitar improvisations recorded across a period of around one year, was released in August 2023.
In 2019 he became the first Maltese artist to perform at the iconic Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City. Other international performances have included Nublu 151, ShapeShifter Lab, Rockwood Music Hall and the Bitter End (NYC), the Honey Hive Gallery (San Francisco), the Octopus Literary Salon (Oakland), the Jazz Educators Network Conference (JEN) 2019 in Reno, Nevada; the Malta Jazz Festival, the Dusseldorf Jazz Rally, Europe Day Festival (Vienna), Teatro Adriano (Cagliari, Sardegna) and 'Les Sons d' Une Ile’ (Paris).
