Jeff Beck
Born:
Jeff Beck isn't your typical guitar legend. His goal, in fact, is to make you forget that he plays guitar.
"I don't understand why some people will only accept a guitar if it has an instantly recognizable guitar sound," says Beck."Finding ways to use the same guitar people have been using for 50 years to make sounds that no one has heard before is truly what gets me off. I love it when people hear my music but can't figure out what instrument I'm playing. What a cool compliment."
Beck burst onto the music scene in 1966 after joining the Yardbirds. Although his stint with the band lasted only 18 months, Beck played on almost all of the group's hits. More importantly, Beck's innovative style heard on classics like "Heart Full of Soul" and "Shapes of Things" helped influence the psychedelic sound of the "60s.

George Barnes
Born:
George Barnes (1921 - 1977) began his career in Chicago while still a teenager. In 1935 he was playing blues guitar backup for singers like Memphis Minnie and Blind John Davis before making his move to jazz. His first significant jazz recording was The George Barnes Sextet made for Keynote Records in 1946. His last two recordings were produced in 1977, by Concord Records, one just shortly before and one just after his death. George Barnes was one of the most underrated of the jazz guitarists that came up during the 1930's, 1940's and 1950's. He was easily recognized for the duets he made with Carl Kress, but sometimes overlooked as one of the great jazz stylists and innovators. Barnes was one of the very first guitarists to electrify his instrument and he was also one of the first to prove the guitar's abilities as a significant solo instrument

I was born in Whitley City, Kentucky and moved to Northern Kentucky when I was 19. I've been playing the guitar as far back as I can remember.
