Teenage jazz guitarist from Oxford, UK. Looking to form a modern jazz band in the area, with absolutely no luck. Currently working on first album "From Nowhere", which will span multiple Jazz-based genres. Hoping to read Music at the University of Nottingham. Song writing time is spent erratically at the moment to coincide with work. Highly idolises the incredible Pat Metheny, but feels and knows that he has not yet scratched the surface of his playing , and to be used in the same sentence as Metheny would be an insult to music.

Michel Sajrawy

Michel Sajrawy is a guitarist, composer and producer from Nazareth, Israel, whose distinctive musical language brings together Middle Eastern Music, jazz, fusion and contemporary sounds. His work explores the meeting point between the modal traditions and melodic character of Middle Eastern Music and the harmonic, rhythmic and improvisational language of jazz.

A central element of Sajrawy’s music is his innovative approach to performing quarter tones on the fretted electric guitar. Rather than adding extra frets or using a fretless instrument, he developed his own technique of producing quarter-tone intervals through controlled string bending. This allows him to preserve the freedom of the conventional guitar for jazz chords, lines and improvisation while incorporating the microtonal language of Middle Eastern Music. The technique gives his playing a distinctive expressive quality, combining the nuances of Middle Eastern melodic tradition with the character and flexibility of the electric guitar.

Michael Schuller

Michael Schuller emerged onto the Boulder/Denver music scene in the mid-1980's. His talents were noticed by the Vocal Jazz group Rare Silk, who featured him on their final recording 'Black and Blue' and supported tour which included performances at the Playboy Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl, Winter Park Jazz Festival and the Sunfest in Miami. Michael went on to travel world-wide with several local artists in support of our National Overseas Entertainment programs for many years. Returning home, Michael enjoyed stints with popular local artists such as Chris Daniels, Hazel Miller and the Blues phenom Lionel Young

Vangthanousone Bouaphanh

Born: 1987

Vangthanousone Bouaphanh was born in Vientiane, the capital city of Laos. He only took up the guitar aged 21, after hearing some recorded jazz in a friend's bar. Initially attracted to bossa nova, especially {{m: Antonio Carlos Jobim = 8063}}, Vangthanousone soon became fascinated by straight ahead jazz, and began to study and play the music of saxophonists {{m: John Coltrane = 5851}} and {{m: Charlie Parker = 10115}}.

As a guitarist, his main influence is {{m: Pat Martino = 3225}}, though he is also inspired by {{m: Wes Montgomery = 9528}} and {{m: George Benson = 3789}}, and is familiar with the music of {{m: Bill Frisell = 6859}} and {{m: John Scofield = 4151}}amongst others.

Ciyo Brown

Biography ‘Born in Jamaica, Ciyo arrived in England at the age of six months old. Though a high academic achiever qualifying as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives and specialising in the area of housing law, music has always been a dedicated and professionally nurtured constant in Ciyo’s journey through life. From early beginnings having first been taught to play the guitar at the age of nine by his father, Ciyo has participated musically in theatrical, studio recordings and live performances alongside a parade of internationally acclaimed artists. These have included Caron Wheeler, Ann Nesby, Ruby Turner, Annie Lennox, Suggs, YolanDa Brown, Jason Rebello, soca queen Alison Hinds, Jean Carne, Jazz Warriors, Tomorrow’s Warriors, Talvin Singh, LCGC, East London Gospel Choir, Chevelle Franklin, Andy Hamilton, Eastwood and Saint, Reggae Philharmonic Orchestra, Urban Soul Orchestra, Alex Wilson, Sonny Okusons, internationally acclaimed jazz guitarists Jim Mullen and Dave Cliff, Pee Wee Ellis, Sly and Robbie, Freddie McGregor, Adele, Steel Pulse (where he shared lead guitar duties with Jimmy ‘Senyah’ Haynes on the 1991 album, Victims) and Carleen Anderson

Phil Cavalieri

Born: June 3, 1974

Born in 1974, Filippo “Phil” Cavalieri grew up in an era where jazz-rock was at it's peak. His formative musical years took place in Ferrara (Italy) where he played in the clubs with all kinds of bands playing everything from Jimi Hendrix to Barry White. As he was learning his instrument, Phil was influenced by Santana, Jerry Garcia, Jimi Hendrix, and the guitarist of the classic rock band of the seventies. Even though Cavalieri claims to be more of a blues-rock player, it was the influence of jazz that led him to the style of playing and composing in a different way of look at the improvisation. Phil finished school and then moved to Holland where he studied and played with different jazz players , like Jan Kuiper, Winfred Buma and Leonardo Amuedo and attended the workshop of John Abercombie, Charlie Haden, Scott Henderson, Gary Willis, John Taylor, Tuck Andrews. Cavalieri started to play as pro in different bands around Italy in the middle nighties and in the meanwhile Phil has proven himself as a full class player and composer. In 2000, he started to play and compose with an independent label called “ Stranisuoni” and worked in different projects with the Italian pop singer Luca Bui, and bring his new tunes on national broadcast. After this experience of commercial music he turned back to jazz music and started again a new season of studies that took him far from the music for a full immersion research for a personal way of playing and compose

Mark Williams

Born: November 23, 1953

Mark Williams has over 40 years' professional experience as a guitarist, teacher, recording artist and composer, and it's demonstrated on every performance. Career highlights include live radio broadcasts from Los Angeles and concert performances with the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra, as well as extensive work in night clubs, for fashion shows and wedding ceremonies throughout Ohio. Mark currently appears regularly at the Buckeye Lake Yacht Club and the John Glenn International Airport. Mark performs as a soloist on the 7 string electric-acoustic guitar custom built by legendary guitar maker J Thomas Davis

Jan Wouter Oostenrijk

In 2007 Dutch guitarplayer Jan Wouter Oostenrijk (JWO) released "Maghreb Jazz guitar", an innovating crossover between jazz and music from Northafrica . They did a successful tour in Holland and performed at big international festivals in Morocco like Rabat, Casablanca and Marrakech. The Maghreb Jazz album got a radioindy "Golden Artist" award in the USA and their interpretation of famous jazz tune Caravan appeared on an EMI compilation, beside renomated artists as James Brown, George Duke and Natacha Atlas. With his work JWO became one of founders of Maghreb Jazz, a worldwide source of inspiration for new music! About JWO Virtuoso Dutch guitar player Jan Wouter Oostenrijk completed his professional Jazz guitar studies at the conservatory of Amsterdam in 1995
