Amine Dhouibi

Born: October 17, 1990

Amine Dhouibi is an independent musician and composer dedicated to exploring and shaping a personal voice within the expansive world of contemporary music. Born in Sousse, Tunisia, he developed an early connection to music and the guitar during a period of introspection, using sound as a medium to translate his inner perceptions and imaginative visions. This search for expression continues to define his artistic path. His work reflects a deeply personal perspective, engaging with the evolving language of contemporary and experimental music while pushing beyond conventional boundaries. Birgit Ulher

Born: 1961

Birgit Ulher studied the visual arts, which still have an important influence on her music. Since moving to Hamburg in 1982 she has been involved in free improvisation and experimental music. Since then she has developed an individual musical language. She works mainly on extending the sounding possiblities of the trumpet and has developed her own extended techniques and preparations for producing these sounds.

Besides this material research she is especially interested in the relation between sound and silence and connecting visual arts with music.
Recent works include videos and sound installations.

Nick Storring

Born: October 4, 1981

Nick Storring is a Toronto-based composer, musician, writer, and curator. His varied and idiosyncratic body of musical work spans chamber compositions to meticulously constructed recordings consisting solely of Storring’s own overdubbed instrumental performances. This output reflects his eclecticism as a listener — juxtaposing the familiar and the abstract to conjure moments of hallucinatory reminiscence.

He has worked with a number of leading artists and organizations in contemporary music including Montréal’s AKOUSMA Festival, Oxford UK’s Audiograft Festival, Késia Decoté, the Esprit Orchestra, Arraymusic, Soundstreams, Eve Egoyan, Sophia Subbayya Vastek, Thin Edge New Music Collective, Quatuor Bozzini, and Vancouver New Music. Winner of the Canadian Music Centre’s 2011 Toronto Emerging Composer Award, he also placed first in the 2008 Jeux De Temps competition for electroacoustic composition. His recorded output has also been released on celebrated experimental music imprints such as Orange Milk Records, mappa editions, Scissor Tail, Notice Recordings and Entr’acte.

Efrayim Fischbacher

Born: April 13, 1929

The World's Loudest Clarinet Player™

Known for his stage-craft, volume, witty reparteé and musical skills, the world has only known one Efrayim Fischbacher, also known to his worldwide fans as "Effie".  

This nonegenarian has had a career that started in the early 1940's in Hoboken and New York, continued with a stint in the Army bands in Korea, culminating with the award of "World's Loudest Clarinetist™ in 1967.  He spent time during the heydey of Las Vegas showbands, and achieved notoriety in Asia after his legendary Lost Winter in Macau, as reported in "Hey! Go!" magazine.  Just name a legendary figure, and Effie will surely have had an experience and a tale to tell.

Alan Regardin develops a singular take on his instrument, both acoustic and electric.  He focuses his approach on the nature of sound and its vibrational spaces in the field of experimental,  from free jazz to minimalism by way of noise and traditional musics...

Strangerous

Born: September 20, 1998

Strangerous is an experimental artist based in Trondheim. She has performed at festivals such as the Emergency Festival (Nødutgangfestivalen), and Ung Nordisk Musik, and has released two albums. Strangerous is a new voice in the borderland between noise, ambient, contemporary and everything else that defies normal genre conventions. She uses vocals, field recordings, various instruments and electronic processing of sound to create a soundscape that captures both the disturbing and the beautiful. For more than 30 years he has appeared at festivals, theaters and venues all over the world, such as the Rouge Cabaret Festival (Paris), Villa Celimontana Jazz Fest (Rome), Odeon of Herodes Atticus (Athens), Secret Garden Fest (U.K.), and the Doha Jazz Festival (Qatar) - his own highlights, though, are gigs in New Orleans and jamming at a funeral in Benin, West Africa!

He had performed and recorded with the cult British trio The Tiger Lillies, New Orleans singer Meschyia Lake, Greek singer-songwriter Dionysis Savvopoulos, the great American Jazz saxophonist Alex Foster (Miles Davis, Charles Mingus), the Balafon master Mamadou Diabate (Burkina Faso), Blaine L. Reininger from Tuxedomoon (U.S.), Marc Collin from Nouvelle Vague (FR) and Xavi Turull from Ojos de Brujo (SP).
