Arktet

Born: January 1, 1970

Arktet is a new trio from Melbourne/Naarm, recently formed by three virtuosos in their fields: Robert Vincs on woodwinds, Niko Schauble on drums and Adam Nash on generative virtual environments. They came together to push the envelope of improvisatory music practice, based around Adam's 'generative virtual environments'. These are playable audiovisual environments, like game worlds, coded to generatively compose on the fly, different every time they're played. Rob on saxes and flute, and Niko on drums, respond to and build upon these environments, using their immense experience in improvisation to create immersive new worlds of sonic experience.

Dedicated improvisor and electro acoustic pioneer, Bonnie Kane's music is formed from equal exposure to the avant-garde, hard core and the psychedelic. Integrating saxophone, flute, feedback and electronics, her solo and group work traverse the genres of noise, free jazz and improvisation, psych rock, jam band, and bio-composition. She brought her "Fresh Sound Guarantee" to her first show at the Rochester Planetarium, performances at a Bosnian refugee camp, outdoor festivals, art spaces, rock, jazz, and punk clubs

Strangerous

Born: September 20, 1998

Strangerous is an experimental artist based in Trondheim. She has performed at festivals such as the Emergency Festival (Nødutgangfestivalen), and Ung Nordisk Musik, and has released two albums. Strangerous is a new voice in the borderland between noise, ambient, contemporary and everything else that defies normal genre conventions. She uses vocals, field recordings, various instruments and electronic processing of sound to create a soundscape that captures both the disturbing and the beautiful. Sofia Borges

Sofia Borges is a percussionist, composer and improviser who has gained prominence through a wide range of international projects. As a solo performer, and in collaboration with the most diverse international artists in the fields of contemporary music, improvised music, free jazz and world music, she has performed in a variety of international festivals in Europe, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, Macau and Taiwan. For her compositions and performances, she brings together traditional and custom-made instruments and electronics configurations. Jakob Rehlinger

Born: November 30, 1972

Jakob Rehlinger is a Canadian multi-instrumentalist, composer and improviser living in south Etobicoke, ON. His music is typically somber in tone and draws inspiration from early electronic musicians and ambient new age artists as well as Scandinavian jazz and 20th century minimalist composers. Previously he performed and released music as BABEL until 2018 when he chose to abandon the moniker and operate under his own name. From 1999 to 2019 he ran the boutique micro-label Arachnidiscs Recordings which featured an array of international artists working in similarly textural and adventurous instrumental music styles

James Olsen

Born: July 24, 1954

Jim Olsen has been a professional composer/arranger and performer on flute and saxophone for over 30 years. His jazz compositions and arrangements have been performed and recorded by (among others) trumpeters Bobby Shew and Jim Rotondi, saxophonist Dick Oatts, pianist Michael Weiss, the Eastman School of Music, Kansas University, University of Denver, Indiana University and Oregon jazz ensembles. Olsen served as the music director for the Swing Shift Jazz Orchestra, a Eugene big band, for 15 years. During his tenure with the band he conducted for and performed with such notable artists as pianists Michael Weiss and Kenny Drew, Jr., drummer Jeff Hamilton and trombonists Michael Davis and Andy Martin, as well as Shew, Rotondi and Oatts

Enzo Favata

Born: November 17, 1956

Enzo Favata is one of the most active and best known Sardinian musicians on the Italian and international music scene, having played more than 2,000 concerts the world over. His research weds tradition and modernity and ranges between different musical cultures. He has studied classical and jazz saxophone, plays the soprano, sopranino and tenor sax, and the bass clarinet, as well as other ethnic wind instruments, above all from Sardinia – he is also a capable user of electronics, that he utilises together with acoustic instruments. He has played and recorded with Dino Saluzzi, Miroslav Vitous, Dave Liebman, Enrico Rava, the Art Ensemble of Chicago, Django Bates, Lester Bowie, Flavio Boltro, Michel Marre, Tenores di Bitti, and many others. Michael Robinson

Born: March 11, 1956

Michael Robinson is a Los Angeles-based composer, programmer, pianist and musicologist. He voices and colors his compositions with instrumental timbres and scale tunings from diverse world music cultures including India, Africa, the Near East, Japan, China, Korea, Bali, Java, Cuba, Brazil, Australia, Europe, North America and Southeast Asia. He composes using traditional Western notation and programs a computer and electronic sound module to perform his music in real time without overdubbing.
