Trio 3 + Vijay Iyer: Wiring

Read "Wiring" reviewed by John Sharpe

It really should be Trio 4 by now! For their previous four albums the threesome has added a pianist to the ranks, first Geri Allen, then Irene Schweizer, then Allen again, and lastly Jason Moran. Now on Wiring Vijay Iyer takes over the piano stool. You could argue that with their credentials saxophonist Oliver Lake (World ...

Clark's reliably sought out unconventional collaborators both domestic and abroad and managed to build a modest discography through ...

Dennis Gonzalez: A Matter Of Blood

Read "A Matter Of Blood" reviewed by Mark Corroto

The reemergence of trumpeter Dennis Gonzalez continues. But, to quote an infamous rapper, “Don't call it a comeback, I've been here for years." And Gonzalez has been making music for many years. Since he has lived the last three decades in Texas, the New York-centric jazz world tended to overlook him. With a flurry of activity ...
