Brenden Hackett, Electric & Acoustic Bass, Bethlehem, PA. Brenden has been performing, recording & teaching bass for the past 15+ years. He’s a diverse musician who’s played Miles to Mahler and everything in between. Hackett cut his teeth in the jazz/improv world shedding standards with various groups including Philly Mignon members Sean Kennedy, Chris Kuczynski & Erin Stroup in the early 90’s. The past few years brought Brenden back to his favorite genre mix with the funk/jazz/improv group Rhino Campground. Currently he is playing with Philly Mignon, members of Rhino Campground, Ian Holmes (former American Idol contestant), Scott Bradoka and The Lisa Bodnar Band

ENSEMBLE BIOGRAPHY - Integrating jazz and world rhythms in richly textured original music, the New York-based Ike Sturm Ensemble fuses diverse influences into a unified, contemporary style. The unique voices of each of its ten improvising members speak to audiences within a saturated environment of original artwork painted by artist and clarinetist Madeline Sturm to complement the sound and form of the music. A grant from the Eastman School of Music in 2001 provided an opportunity for the group’s first multimedia performance of "Spirit," a three-movement suite by Ike Sturm. "Reflect" (Live DVD" 2003) is a through-composed six-part suite using paintings, photographs and projected images to convey symmetry in God’s creation

Born in Tunisia in 1949 and raised in France, Jean Claude Jones emigrated to Israel in 1983 after studying at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. One of the pioneers of Jazz in Israel, he joined the Jazz Department of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance in 1987, and later served as department chair from 1996 to 2000.
In 1988, JC switched from guitar to double bass and over the last 10 years he has shifted his attention from traditional jazz to free improvised music. His main focus is collaborating with a wide range of performing artists, including dancers, vocalists, and poets, with emphasis on small groups and intimate settings.
After coordinating John Zorn’s Cobra project (an improvised music game) for the Israel Festival in 2003 he became musical director for Cobra's ongoing performances throughout Israel.
Jean Claude Jones has performed with many international artists including Slava Ganelin, Avishai Cohen, Dave Liebman, Dave Douglas, Frank London, Anthony Coleman, John Zorn, Arnie Lawrence , Joey Baron,the late Stan Getz and Ned Rothenberg among others.
His current direction includes expanded use of electronics and computer work alongside the bass.
JC is founder of the Kadima Collective, A US-based organization dedicated to Free Improvisation and creative music projects in Israel.

Howard Britz
New York City bassist, pianist and composer Howard Britz was born in London, England in 1961. A band leader in his own right, he has performed and recorded with a diverse collection of influential musicians including; Jon Hendricks and Annie Ross, Danilo Perez, Paquito de Rivera, Sam Rivers, Julius Hemphill, Kenny Werner, Uri Caine, Jeff "Tain" Watts, Kenny Wheeler, New York’s Central Baptist Gospel Choir and most recently Edsel Gomez to name a few. The breadths of his musical influences are apparent in his playing and compositions and are reflected by the artists he has worked alongside and his recordings. Mike Savino, born 1976 in Oceanside, NY is a musician based in New York City. Performing on upright bass, electric bass, 5-string banjo, as well as homemade instruments he has toured and recorded with the likes of Kate Havnevik, Ljova, Gina Gershon, Leroy Powell, Scott Kettner's Nation Beat, and The Klezmatics amongst many others. Savino is a composer and singer/songwriter in his own right crafting music that draws from a fascination with American Roots and circus music and his extensive study of Afro-Brazilian rhythms.

In 1978 he is a professional session man and plays in a tour in South America with an Italian pop group. In 1980-81-82 he is in the world tour of PUPO a famous Italian pop star, with him he will come to play in USA and CANADA. In 1981 he meets Angel "Pocho" Gatti a pianist, arranger and composer from Argentina, well known for his contributes to Frank Sinatra, Gerry Mulligan, Chet Baker and Astor Piazzolla. With "Pocho" he produces two studio LP and one live recording at the international jazz festival of Zagreb 1981.
During the eighties he continues his studio and live activity as a session man playing with Italian pop stars (Pupo, Ramazzotti, Zucchero, Masini), and moreover, plays in jam sessions and concerts with Chet Baker, Gerry Mulligan, Massimo Urbani, Franco D'Andrea, Enrico Rava, Fabio Morgera, James Thompson, Andy J.Forrest, Stefano Bollani, Enrico Granafei,Paolo Fresu. In 1982 starts a cooperation with the pianist, composer and arranger Fabrizio Festa; together they found a jazz-rock band named "FESTA GROUP". With this group they record two LP "Congo Square" and "Montreux Live" and one CD "Strings"; they have a lot of concerts in Italy and Europe and take part, for two years in succession, in the international jazz festival of Montreux (1988-89). In 1986 he makes a contract with the best Italian publishing house in musical methods (Berben); he publishes his first method of bass technique "The Electric Bass" and soon it becomes a best seller (over 20.000 books sold in Italy, still growing). In 1990 he publishes his second method "The Improvising Electric bass" and in 1992 the third method "The Great Electric Bass Riffs". The cooperation with Fabrizio Festa continues through the nineties, playing in pieces of contemporary music composed by Fabrizio Festa and performed, beside famous classical soloists, in the most important Italian theaters. In 1996 joins the world tour of the Italian pop star Marco Masini and come back to play again in Canada and Usa. In 1999 begins to play acoustic bass too. In summer 1999 plays in the European tour of Larry Coryell's Eleventh House (as sobstitute of Jeff Berlin) with Alphonse Mouzon on drums and Shunzo Ono on trumpet

Michael J. Gold
Michael Gold, Ph.D. has been working as a jazz bassist since the mid 1970's. While working in the NYC jazz scene he performed with Lee Konitz, Warne Marsh, Al Cohn, Sheila Jordan and Tal Farlow. In 1995, while running the jazz program at Vassar College, Michael received a National Endowment for the Arts grant to teach professional orchestral musicians how to improvise jazz. He is the president of Jazz Impact, LLC. Jazz Impact (tm) is a learning and development program that uses jazz as a metaphor to help people learn how to maximize their collaborative potential in the context of a rapidly changing world.
