John Morton

My first instrument is a 1979 Wal fretless strung with with 20-year-old half-rounds, held together with string and chewing-gum; my second, an unhygenically filthy 1979 fretted Music Man strung with slightly newer roundwounds; my third, a rather more recent (sadly) and cleaner (also sadly) Fender Precision, set up according to the James Jamerson prescription with LaBella flatwounds and a chunk of foam under the pickup cover. I use Eden amplification. I hate effects, though I do use a Mu-tron with the Music Man if things are heading in that direction. Can't read/won't read - so I improvise a lot

Von Babasin

Born:

Playing bass since I was 17 yrs. old, my first true passion was music, being raised by one of the greatest jazz bassist/producers in history, Harry Babasin. After performing in countless cover bands, I started my first original project in 1982. The independent record label who signed the band I was in, Uranus (pop/rock), also had a music video division, and they promptly hired me to produce and direct music videos for them, as well. I managed to get one of my videos nominated for an independent award at the 1984 Billboard/MTV Music Video Conference. That band suffered an ugly break up and the record company closed its music video division in 1986. I instantly formed a new group, The RH Factor (jazz/rock)

Shortly after ending my studies I moved to London where I found that the experience, that I had gathered in the clubs and pubs of the north east was enough to get my career in the capital started
