Earthsound

Born: June 9, 1976

Earthsound is a world music, jazz, and environmental sound ensemble based in Boston and led by bassist Jason Davis. The group has been nominated for the Boston Phoenix Best Music Poll and has been the feature of a Boston Globe article. Reflecting Jason's interest in the natural world and environmental issues, Earthsound performs improvised music along with natural sounds recorded in locales such as the Monteverde Cloud Forest of Costa Rica. The repertoire draws upon styles such as bossa nova, jazz, and classical impressionism, and features original music as well as arrangements of pieces by Antonio Carlos Jobim, Maurice Ravel, and other composers.

Peter Morgan

I was born in Isleworth, Middlesex in 1951, and have lived in Twickenham, Middlesex with a few short exceptions since 1962. I attended local schools and eventually the now defunct Twickenham Art School, a part of Twickenham Technical College, also now closed. When at Art School my interest and involvement in music grew, fostered by a wonderful music department at the Technical College. I played guitar and sang in a blues band until I was tempted to try the bass guitar. I was instantly at home and have considered myself a bass player ever since. I started playing jazz at this time, encouraged by pianist Colin Wood, then a lecturer at Twickenham Technical College

Aryeh Kobrinsky

Since moving to New York City in 2005 via Montreal and Fargo, North Dakota, Aryeh Kobrinsky has quickly established himself as a creative and versatile bassist on the New York jazz scene. Aryeh stands at the vanguard of a generation of instrumental performers for whom the notion of genre is becoming increasingly ambiguous. Carl Testa is a composer, bassist, bass clarinetist, and electronicist who has been composing and performing creative music since 2000. He is primarily known as one of the members of multi-instrumentalist/composer Anthony Braxton’s Sextet, Septet and 12+1tet. He is featured on the 9 Compositions (Iridium) 2006 box set on Firehouse 12 records, on 12+1tet (Victoriaville) 2007 on Victo Records, as well as the Quartet (GTM) 2006 box set on Important Records. Jon Berretta

Born: September 21, 1979

Jon Berretta started on viola at age 7 and continued until age 17. Upon entering SUNY Plattsburgh as an environmental science major, he was turned on to jazz and funk by a friend. A year later he was playing jazz mandolin for about 8 months. At this point he heard Victor Wooten play the bass and traded his mandolin for a 4-string electric bass which became his first serious intsrument. He got a degree in jazz performance in electric bass from Five Towns College. At this point Jon was playing a lot of jazz guitar. He recieved a full-scholarship to UNLV, where he studied jazz guitar with Joe Lano and taught two guitar classes at the college

Gianluca Renzi was born 1975 in Frosinone, a little italian city near Rome and he’s fast becoming one of the most interesting musician in Europe.
