Sylvi Lane

Roots: Rehearsing bands, musical instruments and wires all over the place, the stage, the smell of the red velvet curtains, numerous concerts: Great memories of my childhood. I ‘grew up’ in a club, ran by my parents. There I breathed in and out the live atmosphere of music and theatre. Study: Back then it was called: Improvised music- main subject singing; at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. It was fertile soil for my musical and personal growth:a free spirited surrounding. Here I also started writing music: my internal need to create and express. Singer: Aretha Franklin, Chaka Kahn, Gladys Knight, Betty Carter, Miles, Sarah Vaughan: thank you for being so inspiring! My very first band was, YES, a soulband

Luna Zegers

Luna´s musical path is like a journey. Born in the Netherlands in a musical family she listens to all sorts of music, but the jazz that her father listens to has her special attention. In 2010 she finishes her musical studies in jazz singing at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with the final grade "cum laude" (a 9). She travels several times to the United States where she takes singing lessons with Theo Bleckmann and composition lessons with Bill Markovitz (Manhattan School of Music). Furthermore her curiosity brings her to India, where she studies south Indian singing in Bangalore, which puts her subsequently on the path of flamenco song, being the ages old tradition of Indian music one of the roots of this Spanish musical style. Luna travels to Seville in Spain to emerge herself in flamenco and feels deeply moved by the raw expression of flamenco singing, in which she recognizes both deep sadness and intense joy of life. A couple of years later she moves to Barcelona (Spain) where she is accepted in the conservatory "Escuela Superior de Música de Cataluña" (ESMUC) as the first foreigner ever in flamenco singing, studying with flamenco singer José Miguel Vizcaya "Chiqui de la Linea"

David Golek

I have always been first and foremost interested in exploring and finding my own musical identity. I guess it's something that keeps on changing and has it's own evolution along with life, as I keep on growing and developing musically. Having a classical and jazz music education, living in different parts of the world and speaking several languages, was a base to always want to widen my musical horizons & perspective on one side, and connect to my roots on the other, which in my case it's not a trivial question. Besides my own projects, I am involved with various groups, as a sideman as well

Wouter Hamel

Hamel’s songs are achingly catchy, or sometimes just aching. They often juxtapose deeply sad and even scathing lyrics with happy melodies that sweep you in. Imagine the musical landscape of a lush big band who would play with Frank Sinatra or Peggy Lee set against the emotional palette of Jeff Buckley...

Hamel is complex, seductive, clever. His songs reflect subtlety, anxiety, euphoria.

"But at the same time I would like to listen to PJ Harvey, Jeff Buckley, Peggy Lee, who is very sexy and strict and melancholic, but I also like Prince and Carmen McRae"

“By the time I was 17 and finished school I moved immediately out from my parents, not because I didn’t like them, but because I didn’t like the place they lived. I moved to the city of Utrecht.” He applied for a course in literature and journalism but left after the first year. “I was just interested in working for magazines like Vanity Fair and this course was very technical - how to write a news story.” He toyed with the idea of music school. He had guitar lessons and he was compulsively listening to Smashing Pumpkins. He wondered if music school would try to change the style before he had even developed it, but he was unhappy with journalism and decided to apply. “I wanted to make my voice bigger and learn theory so I could write songs. 120 people applied to music school and only four could be accepted, and I was, so that was quite an honour.”
