Susanne Alt

Susanne Alt is a saxophonist, composer, DJ, and producer based in Amsterdam. Born in 1978 in Würzburg, Germany, to a musical parental home, she studied classical saxophone at the Meistersinger-Konservatorium Nuremberg (1993-1996) and won the Siemens Prize for young talent (1996). At 18, Alt moved to the Netherlands for jazz saxophone studies at the Hilversum and later Amsterdam conservatories (1996-2000). She continued her studies at the Universität der Künste Berlin (2000-2003), graduating with honors. Since 1999, Alt has performed as a saxophonist in various settings

Yuri Honing

From the very start saxophonist Yuri Honing entered the jazz scene in the early nineties, he found new ways to move people with his slightly melancholic sound and crystal clear constructions he uses for his improvisations. He started playing a/o with his famous Yuri Honing Trio - which celebrates its 15 th anniversary in 2005 - but also with highly acclaimed Dutch artists such as pianist Michiel Borstlap, trumpet player Eric Vloeimans and saxophonist Benjamin Herman. In 1958, guitarist Jim Hall, in notes to a Jimmy Giuffre record, used the term "instant composition" to describe improvising. A few years later, Misha Mengelberg, knowing nothing of this, recoined the term, and it stuck. A quiet manifesto, those two English words countered notions that improvising was either a lesser order of music-making than composing, or an art without a memory, existing only in the moment, unmindful of form. Dimitar Bodurov

Bulgarian jazz pianist and composer Dimitar Bodurov (1979) shaped his authentic musical signature, combining a solid background in jazz improvisation and classical composition with his love for folklore and electronica.

His latest album Solo in Bonnis a live registration of his concert at Beethoven’s huis in November 2018. A lyrical and virtuosic rendition of free improvisations and original compositions based on folklore themes.

Since 2000, Dimitar has been residing in Amsterdam (NL). He has been actively performing throughout the Netherlands and Europe. Bodurov has received several jazz awards, the most recent of which is a mention at the Martial Solal Jazz Solo Piano Competition in Paris (2010).

Pianist Erik van der Luijt's new album "Express Yourself" has just been released to wonderful reviews in The Netherlands. This is his first private production for his piano trio, further consisting of Branko Teuwen on double bass and Victor de Boo on drums. Erik, residing in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, has been leading his trio for several years now, but only recently started writing his own material. To date Erik has contributed to numerous projects, among which are recordings with the Metropole Orchestra, performances with The Orchestra of the Concertgebouw, Rita Reys, Greetje Kauffeld, Madeline Bell, Piet Noordijk and many others
