Hakan Brostrom
Born:
Born in Motala, Sweden, in 1955, Håkan is an alto, soprano, and tenor saxophonist, arranger, and composer.
Already at the age of 8, Håkan started playing the piano, and when he was 15, he began playing the tenor saxophone and flute. One year later, he played the alto saxophone in various blues bands in Motala and the baritone saxophone with the Motala Big Band.
1972-1978
In 1972, he moved to Malmö to study at the music high school there, where his teacher was Helge Albin, a saxophonist and arranger with the Tolvan Big Band. He also started playing the soprano saxophone and collaborated with the Raj Montana Band and Dan Hylander. In 1977, he started studying at the Malmö College of Music and began composing regularly. He became a member of the Gothenburg group "Waves," led by the legendary drummer Conny Sjöqvist.

Stabe honed his craft studying music at Chabot Community College, College of Alameda, and San Francisco State University. At the College of Alameda, he had the privilege of being part of the Big Band under the legendary jazz pianist Bill Bell, which further shaped his musical foundation.

Méva’s Journal is a fresh hard bop outfit in the Brisbane Jazz scene, modeled off of the late 50's/60's ‘hard bop’ ensembles.
The band is led by Evan J. Evans, a Brisbane drummer currently studying a Bachelor in Jazz performance at the Jazz Music Institute, who has written all the music for the band.
The music is based heavily in the early era of hard bop, taking heavy influence from more angular bebop composers like Thelonious Monk. The band features Tyger Middleton on Tenor Saxophone, Chris James on Alto Saxophone, Jordan Stitt on Piano and Alex Askew on Double Bass.

Donovan Haffner

Donovan Haffner is an alto saxophonist. He graduated with a first class BMus degree in Jazz at the Royal Academy of Music.
He has had the opportunity to collaborate with notable musicians, including Shane Forbes and Jay Phelps. He also toured around Italy with Moses Boyd at only 18 years old and at various places around the UK. During his formative years, he received mentorship from figures like Gary Crosby OBE, Alex Davis, and Binker Golding of Tomorrow’s Warriors. Through this organisation, Donovan has been fortunate to be a part of the Jazz House Kids Summer Programme in New Jersey a number of times which helped him further improve his musical skills

Federico Milone

Winner of the “Massimo Urbani International Jazz Competition” & the “Vitavita Italian Young Talent”, Federico Milone is a Brussels based multi awarded Italian saxophonist, composer and educator.
Federico began studying jazz in his hometown, Salerno, with saxophonists Jerry Popolo and Daniele Scannapieco.
He mastered his studies in Umbria Jazz during the International summer workshops where he won a Berklee College Of Music scholarship.
From 2015 onwards, he collaborates with the Master drummer Tullio De Piscopo, participating in many tours and appearing on various famous Italian television shows.

Chris Powe

Los Angeles native, Chris Powe, is an exciting new voice on the alto saxophone. His passion for music began at an early age. He honed his skills in high school, took private lessons under the tutelage of esteemed multi-instrumentalist Scott Mayo, and attended the Fernando Pullum Community Arts Center (FPCAC), which is in the heart of Los Angeles’ Black creative community, Leimert Park.
Powe earned his bachelor’s degree in Music Business/Management from Berklee College of Music. He studied under esteemed professors such as Tia Fuller and Gregory Groover. While in college, he played multiple shows in Boston, New York City, and the greater New England region.

Gabriel Evan

Gabriel Evan, a woodwinds specialist originally from Ossining, NY, performs over 300 shows per year, spanning traditional jazz, gypsy jazz and early Caribbean music. Receiving his first saxophone at 8 years old, Gabriel has spent the last 28 years studying his craft, with an early highpoint interning at WBGO jazz radio station out of Newark, NJ, during his high school years. He earned his Bachelor of Music from DePauw University in 2009, and immediately following graduation began performing professionally in NYC.
As a member of the traditional and gypsy jazz communities, Gabriel has been performing as both a bandleader and sideman for the last 15 years and released his first record Gabriel’s Swing as a bandleader in June of 2019 and second record Global Entry in 2021
