Will Holshouser

Will Holshouser was given an old accordion when he was young and impressionable and was soon bewitched by its charms. Since then, he has become one of the busiest, most versatile accordionists in the U.S. and a composer of unique, colorful music. He leads several of his own groups and performs all over the globe with leading jazz, world, pop and classical artists. Will’s music relates to multiple music traditions and draws on the deeply expressive and fun-loving aspects of his chosen instrument, incorporating melodies you can whistle, pulsating rhythms, mesmerizing hymn-like tunes, rich jazz harmonies, subtle soundscapes and exciting improvisation.

Will began playing accordion in the late 1980s when a friend gave him an old squeezebox as a surprise. At the time he was studying music in college; the accordion let him branch out to playing in bar bands, learning many kinds of folk music, and doing an eclectic range of work on the New York scene. He has since performed in over 30 countries around the world. In addition to leading his own groups and writing music, Will has played with a wide variety of artists including jazz violinist Regina Carter, modern klezmer clarinetist David Krakauer, Dutch trumpet phenomenon Eric Vloeimans, Suzanne Vega, Antony and the Johnsons, Michael Winograd, Han Bennink & Michael Moore, Lisa Gutkin, Guy Klucevsek, Uri Caine, Martha Wainwright, Loudon Wainwright III, Andy Statman, and many others. Three albums of his own music for trio, featuring trumpeter Ron Horton and bassist Dave Phillips, have been released by the Portuguese label Clean Feed. His group Musette Explosion, a collaboration with Matt Munisteri on guitar and Marcus Rojas on tuba, made it to Billboard’s Jazz Albums chart and was featured in an interview on NPR’s Fresh Air. He has been commissioned as a composer by the American Accordionists' Association and Bachtopus Accordion Ensemble. He has also worked on Broadway, in the studio with film composers including Elliot Goldenthal and Rachel Portman, and with classical ensembles including NYC Ballet, NYC Opera, Brooklyn Philharmonic, Ensemble Connect and more.

Nick Ballarini

Nick Ballarini, accordionist, pianist, and bandleader is one of the area's most versatile musicians. Nick plays for weddings, corporate events and jazz festivals as a pianist and bandleader, as well as playing his accordion at Irish, French, Italian and German themed events. His repertoire ranges from classical to pop to the many ethnic styles associated with the accordion. During Nick's career he has played with many prominent musicians such as Luciano Pavarotti, Mel Torme and The Chieftans. He has become a favorite of accordion clubs around the country. Nick is available to play solo or with a band.

Jordan Kostov

Jordan Kostov (accordion) was born 1978 in Kavadarci, Macedonia. Graduated on Faculty of music art in Skopje, section - accordion. Production Bojan Ugrinovski-Chicken Madness. Jordan Kostov’s music gravitates around few styles: macedonian ethno music; tango; modern and classic jazz.

Frode Haltli

Frode Haltli (b. 1975) studied accordion at The Norwegian State Academy of Musicfrom 1994 and at The Royal Danish Concervatory of Music where he ended his studies in 2000. He was awarded the "Young Soloist of the Year 2001" title by the Norwegian Concert Institute at the Bergen International Festival 2000. His debut CD "Looking on Darkness" (ECM New Series) recieved ”Spellemannprisen” (the Norwegian Grammy) for best contemporary music album, and it has recieved numerous very good reviews by international music critics. In 2004 Frode recieved the French ”Prix Gus Viseur”, also for the CD ”Looking on Darkness”.

Joe "Sonny" Barbato

Joe "Sonny" Barbato is a pioneering voice in jazz accordion. He is one of Boston's finest musicians, which is evident on Sonny's exhilarating, charming and fresh new release "Crackerjack." As an established sideman in New York City and Boston, "Crackerjack" represents Joe's first time out as leader. Born and raised in Boston, MA, at nine years of age Joe began taking weekly lessons with accordion master Louis Bregoli. Sonny played the accordion until he was about thirteen years old, and then decided to begin studying the piano instead. He studied with jazz pianist Mike Marra and later attended Berklee College of Music, as well as the New England Conservatory

Julien Labro

Deemed “brilliant” by Howard Reich of the Chicago Tribune, Julien Labro has established himself as one of the foremost accordion and bandoneon players in both the classical and jazz worlds. His artistry, virtuosity, and creativity as a musician, composer and arranger have earned him international acclaim and continue to astonish audiences worldwide. French-born Labro was influenced early on by traditional folk music and the melodic, lyrical quality of the French chanson. However, he spent every last cent of his pocket money collecting CDs by jazz legends like Charlie Parker and Miles Davis, thirsty for the originality, creativity, and the endless possibilities in their musical language. After graduating from the Marseille Conservatory of Music, Labro began winning international awards, taking first prize in the Coupe Mondiale in 1996 and the Castelfidardo Competitions in 1997

Uri Sharlin

Accordionist, pianist and composer Uri Sharlin is a bonafide innovator who synthesizes melodies from around the Mediterranean Sea with world rhythms, forming a music that breathes joyfulness and melancholy with expressive clarity. Upon arriving in New York City, Uri started studying with jazz legends Jackie Byard and Arthuro O’Farrrell, while at the same time getting exposed to music from all over Latin America. He has traveled numerous times to Brazil to soak in the country’s rich musical culture and language. In 2003, Sharlin started his own group, the Cardamon Quartet, where he blends influences from the Mediterranean with those of the Americas, including avant-garde jazz, classical, rumba, and Brazilian samba
