Presentando questo lavoro, lo stesso Green scrive nelle note di copertina di aver voluto incidere a real and honest jazz record e così è stato. Il disco è un omaggio ai suoi strumentisti preferiti che in gran parte si rivelano pianisti bop e di cui Green ripropone alcuni classici. Troviamo "Tempus Fugit" di Bud Powell, "Blue Minor" di Sonny Clark, "Way Cross Town" del grande e misconosciuto Carl Perkins, "Opus De Funk" di Horace Silver, "Chant" di Duke Pearson, "Cool Green" di Kenny Drew e così via.
Benny Green è uno dei massimi pianisti della sua generazione e quest'incisione mostra con chiarezza la sua sapienza armonica, il fraseggio elegantemente melodico e il raffinato senso ritmico in un percorso volutamente rispettoso degli artisti e dei brani. Ciò lo porta a sacrificare il fervore virtuosistico e la fantasia di rielaborazione per il piacere di confluire in un'estetica su cui è maturato e in cui si riconosce.
Forse non aggiunge molto all'arte di Green ma è una tappa profondamente sentita e la sincerità di quest'omaggio si trasmette con chiarezza agli ascoltatori.
