Pius Baschnagel‘s Latinworld: Son Song
Tempi trascinanti per esecuzioni esuberanti esaltano la verve del leader, che ha studiato a Cuba con Enrique Pla degli Iraquere vantando collaborazioni a tutto tondo tra Benny Golson, Barbara Dennerley, Chico Freeman e Flavio Ambrosetti. Nella sua cifra artistica il jazz si fonde con i ritmi del bolero, salsa e bossa nova, esibendo una inedita front line nell'esposizione tematica con canto e trombone all'unisono.
Una invidiabile dose di groove è data dagli altri tre componenti della ritmica, che si aggiunge al drumming ricco di spunti del batterista svizzero. Il sestetto firma un CD pregevole dove la varietà si coniuga ad un opportuno discorso di sintesi pienamente riuscito. Queste caratteristiche portano il gruppo a rileggere con buon piglio creativo in salsa latin "You and the Night and the Music".
