Second Take è il nuovo lavoro di Marcello Tonolo. Il pianista veneziano rivisita in maniera personale ed originale otto standards della canzone americana, con l'ausilio di Marco Privato al contrabbasso e Jimmy Weinstein alla batteria.

Si parte con "It Could Happen to You" in una interpretazione originale in cui a fare la parte del leone sono Tonolo col suo brillante pianismo e Weinstein. Dopo un intro rilassato, i due danno vita ad un vivace dialogo strumentale. Simile dinamica in "Lover" che dopo un inizio sentimentale sale di temperatura grzie ad una ritmica che cresce gradualmente.

Atmosfere più rilassate ed intimiste in "My Funny Valentine" e grande senso dello swing in "Wrap Your Troubles in Dream" in cui, per un attimo, i musicisti ci fanno rivivere atmosfere jazz anni '30.

In questo lavoro gli standards della musica americana acquisiscono una veste inedita grazie al tocco pianistico di Marcello Tonolo, che riesce a conciliare ritmo e poesia senza snaturare le versioni originali di questi brani. Second Take allieterà gli amanti di questi brani sempreverdi.
