AA.VV.: Riddim Box
La quantità di ingredienti e di influenze [che è ormai un segno distintivo della nostra contemporaneità] è tale da fare rilucere come su una superficie liquida tante schegge che difficilmente l'ascoltatore potrà ridurre a una matrice comune, ma - per quanto soggettivo - lo sguardo del compilatore riesce a evidenziare elementi e artisti chiave.
Da MJ Cole a Kode9 [per citare nomi che all'ascoltatore italiano potrebbero suonare più familiari], passando per Roska, Altered Natives o Zed Bias, si attraversano zone di influenza giamaicana, altre raggelate di linee techno, sentieri accidentati di broken beats e una scurezza ossessiva che rimane sottopelle come l'inchiostro di un vecchio giornale.
Forse le ansie definitorie rischiano di confinare queste musiche in un contesto meno arioso di quanto potrebbe essere [e magari di includerne di non del tutto convincenti], ma le tracce sono spesso intriganti e danno uno spaccato, per quanto parziale, delle tendenze inglesi di questi ultimi anni.
