Dai trascinanti "Keep Talkin" e "Maceo," al morbido soul di "My Love" alla rilettura del classico di Stevie Wonder "Don't You Worry 'Bout The Thing" la Benjamin dà prova di ottime qualità strumentali e di arrangiamento grazie alla capacità di integrare strumentisti e vocalists in maniera naturale, una cosa che non sempre riesce in album di questo genere.
Pervade in questo lavoro uno spiccato senso del groove oltre che l'amore dell'artista per maestri come Maceo Parker, Prince e Sly & The Family Stone. Retox potrebbe far storcere il naso ai puristi del jazz ma sarà apprezzato dagli amanti del funk e del groove.
