Radio & Podcasts

All About Jazz helps radio hosts and podcasters who use broadcasting platforms that offer embeddable iframe audio players (e.g. Mixcloud, Soundcloud, Spotify, or Podbean), reach a larger listening audience by prominently displaying their program on our home page and radio page.

Each article includes the show's title, a brief introduction and a playlist (if applicable). See example.

Here are the steps to present your radio programs or podcasts at All About Jazz:

  1. Sign up at All About Jazz.
  2. Upload your radio show/podcast information, including your show's logo, to Jazz Near You. Once uploaded, it will look like this.
  3. Contact Ludovico Granvassu when you've signed up and uploaded your podcast information.
  4. Once approved, we'll upgrade your status to contributor so you can access the submission form.
  5. Since how we present your program requires IFRAME code, you'll need to make sure your streaming platform offers it. Most do.
  6. Upload your show to your preferred streaming platform, then create the article to present it on All About Jazz through the submission form.
  7. On the form, select "Radio" under "Article Type" and then click "Continue."
  8. On the subsequent page, enter the following:
    1. Article Title:
      1. Do not include the name of your show or podcast here.
      2. The title should be short but give a clear indication of the episode's content.
    2. Podcast: select your podcast from the dropdown menu.
    3. Associate your article with a musician or band if a musician is interviewed during your program or is the most visible or relevant musician in the playlist. This creates an association between your article and the musician's page.
    4. Article text: include a brief description (100-200 words) of the episode, using house style (check the Internal Links Guidelines) and make sure to include the playlist (see placeholders below).

      <h3>Playlist</h3>
      <ul class="ol-list">
      <li>{{Musician/Band Name}} "Song Title" from <em>Album Title</em> (Record Label) 00:00</li>
      <li>{{Musician/Band Name}} "Song Title" from <em>Album Title</em> (Record Label) Time Marker</li>
      <li>{{Musician/Band Name}} "Song Title" from <em>Album Title</em> (Record Label) Time Marker</li>

      <li>{{Musician/Band Name}} "Song Title" from <em>Album Title</em> (Record Label) Time Marker</li>
      <li>{{Musician/Band Name}} "Song Title" from <em>Album Title</em> (Record Label) Time Marker</li>
      <li>{{Musician/Band Name}} "Song Title" from <em>Album Title</em> (Record Label) Time Marker</li>
      </ul>
    5. Add Mixcloud page link: copy and paste the URL of your Mixcloud episode.
    6. E-mail addresses: include the email addresses of musicians, labels, press agents, and any other person that should be notified about the publication of your episode.
    7. Message to editor: if you need to bring anything to the attention of the editor.
    8. Click Submit: The end result appears like this. Should you need to make some corrections, click on the orange "Edit" button.

Once published, the Miscloud player will appear on the All About Jazz home page and will be archived on the Radio page.

When preparing the audio file for Mixcloud upload, make sure it has these minimum sound quality rates:

  • Bit rate: 128 kbps
  • Sample rate: 44.1k
