How to create internal links

All About Jazz has developed a syntax to create quick links from an article to a musician, venue, festival, (other) article, album, contributor and Jazz Near You city page. These links provide value to the reader and encourage exploration and discovery.

The article submission form comes with a link generator and we encourage you to use it. Please limit {{}} usage to the first instance of a musician's name, a city's name, an album's name, etc.

For articles and news announcements only

To a musician or band {{ }} or {{m: }}
Create a hotlink to a musician page this way: {{Ted Nash}}. Limit the {{}} to the first instance of the musician's full name.

To an article page {{a: }}
Just copy and paste the {{a: title = id#}} value into your article's text box. Example: look for {{a: John Coltrane: Evenings At The Village Gate = 578538}} under the title on this page.

To an album page {{r: }}
Example: look for {{r: Union = 284412}} under the album title on this page.

To a venue, festival or record label listing {{e: }}
Create a hotlink to a venue listing page this way: {{e: Village Vanguard}}. It also works for a record label page: {{e: Blue Note Records}}.

To a Jazz Near You city {{jny: }}
Create a hotlink to a Jazz Near You website this way: {{jny: Philadelphia}}.

To a staff writer's page {{c: }}
Create a hotlink to a staffer's page this way: {{c: Ian Patterson}}.
