Eliane Elias: Plays Live
La pianista brasiliana Eliane Elias conferma l'assunto precedente in questo bel concerto al Bimhuis di Amsterdam di fine maggio 2002 che dopo tanti anni viene pubblicato dalla Blue Note.
Il repertorio è piuttosto convenzionale e appariglia standard jazzistici molto battuti per poi prendersi qualche libertà verso la fine, quando compare una intensa "Peggy's Blue Skylight" di Charles Mingus. Non manca l'omaggio finale alla musica del paese natio della pianista con una lunghissima versione di "Desafinado" che mette particolarmente in luce la capacità del trio di elaborare liberamente a partire da una composizione ben nota.
Eliane Elias ha un tocco lieve ma deciso, un senso del ritmo piacevolmente ondeggiante, la giusta concentrazione per esplorare fin nei recessi più intimi queste composizioni e il perfetto senso dell'interplay coi due ottimi compagni di strada, sempre pronti a rispondere alle sue sollecitazioni.
