Gianluca Tagliazucchi: Nuances

Originale scelta quella del pianista savonese Gianluca Tagliazucchi: presentare, nel suo secondo lavoro da titolare, un’alternanza di tracce per ottetto e per piano solo. Una scelta che appare segno tangibile del rapporto stretto che Tagliazucchi, attivo come compositore e arrangiatore, conserva con la tastiera.

È interessante anche notare come le tracce forse più interessanti dell’album, che è complessivamente di ottimo livello, siano poi due per solo piano: la classica “Darn That Dream”, che in solitudine sulla tastiera è sempre affascinante, ma che Tagliazucchi interpreta con iniziale rarefazione e progressiva, lirica, drammaticità; e l’originale “Nuances”, che titola il lavoro, nel quale il pianista mette assieme le doti di compositore - il tema è tanto semplice, quanto toccante - e quelle di strumentista - l’improvvisazione che si erge sulle note alte, con il tema riflesso sullo sfondo, conserva la tensione malinconica della composizione.

Quando in scena si presenta in formazione allargata, il gruppo ha una marcata compattezza, che permette di spiccare soprattutto alla voce di Stefania Scarinzi (presente nelle quattro tracce in ottetto) e alla tromba di Giampaolo Casati. Qui il pianoforte del leader si defila un po’, lasciando spazi anche al contrabbasso di Aldo Zunino. Complessivamente, gli arrangiamenti sono piuttosto convenzionali, anche se nella parte centrale di “African Flower” le linee dei diversi strumenti si intrecciano e, in particolare, interagiscono in modo particolarmente suggestivo contrabbasso, voce, e il trombone di Stefano Calcagno, mentre in “Panoplic” (per settetto, come “Blues Im Volkston") si respira un’aria di maggiore libertà.
