Rhino Presents a Digital Boxed Set Honoring
The Roster of Iconic Jazz Artists
Nesuhi Ertegun Assembled at Atlantic Records

Joel Dorn's Final Production Features Music from The Modern Jazz Quartet, John Coltrane, Milt Jackson, Charles Mingus, Ornette Coleman, Eddie Harris and More

Available June 23, 2009

LOS ANGELES -- In 1955, Nesuhi Ertegun joined Atlantic Records, the label founded by his younger brother Ahmet. Put in charge of the labels jazz division, Nesuhi spent the next 12 years recording a number of landmark albums from significant artists such as Charles Mingus, The Modern Jazz Quartet, Milt Jackson, John Coltrane, and Ornette Coleman to name a few. Rhino pays tribute to Nesuhi Erteguns legacy with a digital set of essential recordings that show the deep impact he had on the world of jazz.

The compilation is produced by Joel Dorn, who was mentored by Ertegun and succeeded him as Atlantic Records jazz producer in 1967. Sadly, this outstanding boxed set was the last project Dorn ever worked on. He passed away the day after putting the final touches on the track list and liner notes.

Hommage A Nesuhi contains 61 songs recorded between 1955-76 that spotlight the magnificent collection of world-class, one-of-a-kind musicians Ertegun assembled to make the Atlantic jazz catalog the singular body of work it is. The music is arranged thematically: Some Atlantic Jazz, Shades Of Blue, Live, On The Edge, and Some More Atlantic Jazz.
