Celebrating the October 7th release of Philadelphia guitar master Pat Martino's masterful Blue Note CD THINK TANK, Zanzibar Blue presents Martino's first quintet date in his hometown in many years. Joined by saxophonist and Philly native, Michael Pedicin, Jr. (Archie Bell, Salsoul Orch., Arthur Prysock), pianist Dave Kikoski (Mingus Big Band, BeatleJazz, Roy Haynes) and the incendiary rhythm section of Jeff Pedras and Scott Robinson, Martino, who totally re-learned the guitar in 1980 after suffering total memory loss following an operation on an aneurysm in his brain, will feature material from his sterling new CD THINK TANK and other career highlights. His previous CD LIVE AT YOSHI's was nominated for a Grammy and Pat was a 2002 honoree at the NARAS HEROES AWARDS and has previously been the honoree at the Philadelphia Mellon Jazz Festival.
His latest Blue Note CD, THINK TANK, released internationally on October 7, features the stunning all-star ensemble of Joe Lovano, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Christian McBride and Lewis Nash, the influential guitarist has made what may stand as the most vibrant artistic statement of his illustrious career.
