Peyton Griffin, a 23-year-old Jazz pianist from the suburbs of Seattle, releases his 2nd single, 'Autumn In New York,' as he sets his sights on a traditional jazz resurgence.
Peyton paints a musical portrait of the beauty and contrast of an “Autumn in New York” with his newest single. Peyton’s arrangement symbolizes the changes of autumn through key changes and subtle embellishments of the melody that highlight the contrast and romance of autumn. Peyton’s piano playing is reminiscent of the players that inspired him, while exemplifying Peyton’s own style of interpretation and arranging.
“‘Autumn in New York describes what I feel is Autumn, the sense of bittersweet nostalgia, new love and lingering pain, “Peyton explains”. The senses of New York after summer with its color’s autumn brings, and the darkness of a new season. I love the contrasting nature of the song, from happy harmony to a somber mood, it’s a beautiful story. It’s romantic, and portrays the ultimate song about contrasting feelings. Autumn In New York has an enduring melody blended with amazing harmony that makes it a timeless classic.”
Peyton captured the attention of local Bostonians during his sophomore year at Berklee College of Music when he would perform with his trio in local clubs and continues to grow. Peyton introduced many people to updated versions of Jazz Standards and era’s long thought passed.
Now based in New York, Peyton looks to bring his instrumental storytelling and love of timeless Jazz to a new audience and increase his loyal and growing fanbase.
