10-track recording includes timeless classics, new original compositions, and marks Wrembel’s debut on vocals

Today guitarist Stéphane Wrembel, best known for his original compositions in the acclaimed Woody Allen films Midnight in Paris (“Bistro Fada”) and Vicki Cristina Barcelona (“Big Brother”), is celebrating the release of Django New Orleans II: Hors-Série on all digital streaming platforms, and on CD at Bandcamp.com.

Django New Orleans is Wrembel’s 9-piece specialty group comprising some of New York’s most respected jazz musicians. The musicians accompanying Wrembel on the recording include: Josh Kaye (guitar), Dion Berardo (guitar), David Langlois (washboard/percussion), Nick Driscoll (clarinet/soprano sax), Joe Boga (trumpet), Steven Duffy (tuba/sousaphone), Adrien Chevalier (violin), Scott Kettner (drums), and Sarah King (vocals).

Django New Orleans II: Hors-Série pays homage to legendary guitarist and composer Django Reinhardt, fusing the rich brass traditions of New Orleans with the fiery spirit of Reinhardt’s Jazz Manouche. The 10-track recording includes fresh renditions of timeless classic songs along with two new, original compositions by Wrembel, who makes his debut as a vocalist on two tracks, Serge Gainsbourg’s “La Javanaise” and “Le Poinçonneur des Lilas,” adding yet another vibrant dimension to the ensemble’s expansive sound.

Wrembel comments, “Hors-Série means ‘special edition’. This record is a journey into uncharted territory for me, where I not only play guitar but also sing on two beloved Gainsbourg compositions, embracing our shared Parisian accent and vocal range. The album blends the timeless Django strings with the infectious, joyful party groove of New Orleans.”

Executive producer Francisco Romero adds, “The NOLA 2 album emerged from a conversation I had with Stephane about a collection of songs we thought would be interesting for him to interpret. The result is an album that takes the listener on a journey—from original compositions to covers that reach from France all the way to Sweden. Stephane approaches music the way Mozart must have: as something alive, breathing, and limitless.”

Wrembel will continue to tour incessantly, including an upcoming tour in Asia in January 2026. Confirmed show thus far include:
